The spaces are related in a “mise-en-scène” or staging by means of the circulations, exposing the life of the workshops, classrooms, sports facilities, the swimming pool, laboratories, auditorium and the multipurpose room. Its horizontal organization is based on five different departments set apart by their specific entrances. Its vertical organization is divided into academic environments, from the most private dedicated to research on the higher levels to those of greater attendance, dimensions and noise at the lower levels. The location of the buildings with continuous facade on the east and west sides reflect a predominantly urban character in this district of historical preservation. The seven story volumes along Beauchef and Club Hípico Streets match the height of the faculty’s traditional building and the north building, a legacy that is included in the project and integrated in function and material condition. The southern façade opens up revealing the auditorium and the entire interior of the central courtyard, as a sign of openness to the south of the city.
Los espacios se relacionan en una “mise en scène” o puesta en escena a través de los recorridos, revelando la vida de los talleres, aulas, los espacios deportivos, la piscina, los laboratorios, el auditorio y el salón multiuso. Su organización horizontal la constituyen cinco departamentos diferenciados con sus accesos específicos. Su organización vertical se divide en ambientes académicos, desde la investigación más privada en las zonas superiores a las de mayor convocatoria y ambientes más amplios como ruidosos en los niveles inferiores. El emplazamiento de los edificios de fachada continua en los costados oriente y poniente obedece a una voluntad urbana predominante en este barrio de conservación histórica. Los volúmenes a lo largo de calle Beauchef y Club Hípico contienen siete pisos que alcanzan la misma altura del edificio tradicional de la facultad y del edificio norte, un edificio heredado que se incluye en el proyecto incorporándolo en programa y materialidad. La fachada sur se abre dejando ver el auditorio y todo el interior del patio central, como señal de apertura hacia el sur de la ciudad.
