Abstract Catapultas de la geopolítica posmoderna offers a critical examination of the interconnections among the concepts of power, sovereignty and civilisation in a fractured world driven by emerging dynamics that transcend the traditional expressions of hard power. It explores the growing reliance on soft mechanisms to enhance strategic influence, such as social media platforms, artificial intelligence, the consulting industry, and the neo-colonial uses of the geopolitics of water, food and debt. Revéiz analyses recent transformations in the international system through a cross-sectoral reading of phenomena that may appear distinct but are deeply interrelated from a geopolitical perspective, including financial crises, regional conflicts, the digital revolution, and the management of migration and climate challenges. The book finds that the erosion of the human rights model and the declining role of the United Nations in managing international conflicts have plunged the world order into a state of “organised chaos”, marked by an unprecedented normalisation of violent and complex wars—exemplified by the Russia- Ukraine conflict and the Israeli war on Gaza—which the author interprets as part of a broader imperial tendency to reshape the Middle East. In this context, he calls for a revival of the international human rights framework and the restoration of the United Nations’ historical function in mediating global power relations, envisioning a multipolar world governance structure anchored in the rising role of BRICS as a potential counterbalance to US hegemony and a means to foster equilibrium among world civilisations. Keywords: geopolitics, civilisational regions, dynamics of contestation, hegemony, postmodernity.
