1.1. Digital for impact: digital capabilities as accelerators to support the transformation of agrifood systems 37
More participation across the Organization
“We see technology as a lever to accelerate the transformation of agrifood systems across Europe and Central Asia. To be successful, we need to develop capacities for all FAO colleagues to mainstream digitalization in their projects and programmes.”
Daniela Di Gianantonio
Widening and opening the dialogue on digital across the Organization, the FAO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia held new AgriTechtalks that presented the FAO DSP in October. These talks are monthly appointments of no more than 20 minutes that aim to inspire FAO employees across the region of Europe and Central Asia to “think tech” when designing and implementing their programmes and projects. The first talk walked regional colleagues through the FAO DSP mobile application.
Examining complex issues requires dynamic and engaging interview exchanges. A special "Thought provoking questions" Agri Tech Talk session was also organized, aimed at demystifying technology. Responding to controversial and deliberative statements, important topics were addressed, such as the ability of smallholder farmers to really take advantage of the opportunities brought by digitalization and the challenges ahead for FAO as an emerging player in this field.
