Supporting this sentiment, Ministry Director-General Michael Yitzhakov noted that these projects demonstrate how sustainability serves as a powerful engine for local employment and community resilience, promising that the Ministry will continue to champion such vital initiatives. Kibbutz Lotan, located in the heart of the southern

desert, offers visitors a truly unique model of “natural building.” The kibbutz has gained international acclaim for its use of earth and straw as primary raw materials, creating a serene environment that includes mud-brick guest rooms and a center for creative ecology. Travelers seeking a deep connection to nature can enjoy an ecological kitchen, organic gardens, and a peaceful desert atmosphere that prioritizes a low carbon footprint without sacrificing comfort. In the lush north, Havat Rom on Mount Kamon presents a holistic “Man-Nature- Community” philosophy. Out of 46 competing projects, only five reached the finals, with Lotan and Havat Rom ultimately achieving the highest scores. As part of their achievement, both winners will represent Israel’s innovative tourism spirit at the ITB Berlin 2026 international travel fair. This global stage will allow them to showcase the best of Israeli “green” hospitality to the world, setting a new standard for travelers who want their journeys to leave a positive mark on the planet.
