The Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) has a rich history of promoting academics, the safety of participants, competition, sportsmanship, and the life-long values athletics fosters. As the LHSAA advances its mission and continues its legacy, Ochsner Health is proud to serve as the organization’s official healthcare provider and the title sponsor of its state championship events—one of which you are attending today, cheering on your own student-athlete. Through this partnership, Ochsner Health supports the more than 110,000 LHSAA student athletes with more than 130 athletic trainers under the guidance of 35 sports medicine physicians and orthopedic surgeons across Louisiana. Students’ safety while playing the games they love is our top priority. During these championship events we are just steps away from the field of play, ensuring that appropriate care is available at a moment’s notice. This is a priority shared by our newest collaborator, world-renowned orthopedic surgeon, James Andrews, MD . Earlier this year, Ochsner was proud to join forces with him—with the student- athletes we serve in mind—to create the Ochsner Andrews Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute . Dr. Andrews has spent much of his illustrious career advocating for safety in youth sports and his consultation and participation in our educational opportunities, research and professional development initiatives will allow us to enhance the high level of care we give our sports community. As part of Ochsner’s vision to measurably transform Louisiana into a healthier state by 2030, we are investing in a healthcare workforce development path for student-athletes, with a concentration on sports medicine. Through education, we will move closer to our goal of lifting up Louisiana as a healthy region where our students have access to healthcare careers. We are honored to partner with LHSAA and are thrilled to welcome you to the Volleyball State Championship. Our partnership gives us a tremendous opportunity to participate on the sidelines and in the classrooms with Louisiana’s student athletes.
