“As new producers, the Suffolk Event provided us not only things to think about within the industry, but practical tools to implement on our farm as well. We implemented a lot of what we learned this past summer into this lambing season, and saw a direct impact into our lambing success rate in 2025.
The networking with other producers was also helpful in gathering insights into what others are doing on their farms with showing sheep, selling and making their farms profitable.”
- Mark & Sara Hewitt, Harper & McCoy, Minnesota “At the Suffolk event, I had the opportunity to network with Suffolk producers, gaining valuable insights and connections within the sheep production community. I also learned more about NSIP’s role in genetic improvement and the significant challenges producers are facing due to Cache Valley virus.” -Preston & Victoria Morris, Tennessee
“The 2024 Event was my first national Suffolk event in over 15 years. As a producer who lives less than 60 miles from the Pacific, the travel distance out to the Midwest is not insignificant (>2,000 miles) and the Young Producers Travel Grant helped make the journey possible. The Event exceeded my most optimistic expectations - particularly in the opportunity to network and learn from other more established and experienced Suffolk breeders and enthusiasts, many of whom were gathered in one place
and tap into their knowledge on feeding, genetics, and management. The educational sessions were helpful and the show/sale experience was different, but impressive. Definitely a worthwhile experience!” -John Baglien, Jefferson, Oregon
