JUNE 2025

www.franklinbuildingsupply.com | 208-514-2200 | 9222 W. Barnes Dr., Boise, ID 83709 We’re Celebrating Employee Ownership EMBRACE THE PRIVILEGE

Did you know we’re entering our 10th year as a 100% employee-owned company? We are no longer new at this, but we still have a lot to learn and master. We’ve all started to figure out what having an “ownership” mentality means. We’ve seen how it translates into better results for our customers, business, and ESOP accounts. This month and throughout the summer culminating in our company-wide, sudden-death, winner-take-all, can-you-handle-the-pressure virtual cornhole tournament in September, we’re going to take some extra time to celebrate being employee-owned. Unfortunately, most employees across Idaho, Nevada, and the U.S. do not have the opportunity to earn ownership and experience an ESOP account balance increase significantly over time. Their economic benefit for the work they do is limited to their wages. However, at FBS and other ESOPs, you are paid for your work AND have an ESOP account after your one-year mark with us. That account receives additional shares every year, not because we take money out of your wages, but because you became an owner. And then, depending on the company’s performance over time, the value of those shares typically increases. An ESOP is not a trivial benefit

to dismiss, undervalue, or overlook. You are in a rare position to build wealth, not just for retirement, but for the next decade.

It would be easy for you or me to take this for granted, so it’s essential to occasionally step back and remember that being employee-owned is a privilege — a rare one at that. We have a role every day in building value. • SAFE: If we take our safety and the safety of everyone around us seriously, we reduce injuries and increase the value of our ESOP by lowering costs related to injuries or property damage. • GUIDE: If we are more attentive to the experiences of those who come before and after us at any step of the process, we reduce errors, improve speed, and increase the value of our ESOP. • WOW: If we are mindful of opportunities to do the small things for customers that most overlook or ignore, we generate more repeat business and inspire more customer evangelists, both of which increase the value of our ESOP. • STRIVE: If we challenge ourselves to work smarter, not just harder, we solve more problems that bug us, resulting in less wasted time, effort, material, or motion, and we increase the value of our ESOP. We all have something we can do today, tomorrow, and every day following to take more ownership of our work and thereby build a better company through better experiences for our employees and customers. Let’s celebrate employee ownership over the next few months. Let’s also challenge each other to embrace an ownership mentality in everything we do, big and small, so that we can collectively increase the value of our ESOP.

WOW From: Tyler Honn, Boise To: Jeff Ward, Amber Hall, Tom Mosgrove, Trent McKnight, and Kevin Teague, Boise I just wanted to give a high five to this group for their support in planning and executing the Shea safety stand-down meeting and sub appreciation event. Our customers recognized our willingness and the effort we put into helping them achieve their safety goals, and they will remember this as they start awarding contracts on their next development. High Fives!

status and criteria. Thanks for taking the time to speak with us and providing

a “MAP” to achieving Blue Star status. Excellent communication and teamwork. EASY From: Danny Hyman, Boise To: Clinton Hawks, Caldwell I’d like to give a big high five to

Caldwell driver Clinton Hawks. He had a tricky delivery to make this morning, requiring the placement of 42’ I-joists to the interior of a shop.

He did this safely and without a lateral Moffett. Our builder was thoroughly impressed and very grateful for the service he received. Clinton handled the situation like a true professional, and we really appreciate his effort. Thanks Clinton!

GUIDE From: Javan Stansell, Bellevue To: Liz Wagner, Bellevue

One of my delivery orders got moved to another date. Liz put in the yard book reference that it was per the customer’s request. This gave me enough info to know what was going on, saved me a phone call, and she’s obviously communicating with customers. Stellar!

STRIVE From: Eric M. Heiden, Burley To: Tyler Bills, Burley

Tyler went above and beyond today by making us laminated cards that list the names and contact info of all the major vendors we use and all the FBS branches. This makes things much more LEAN for me, the rest of the outside sales staff, AND the inside sales staff because we don’t have to spend time looking up which vendor would be best to contact in a certain situation.

SAFE From: David Inocencio, Twin Falls To: Jeff Ward and Mike Nelson, Corporate SCI

I wanted to give a high five to Jeff Ward and Mike Nelson for coming all the way down from Boise to sit with us in Twin to discuss Blue Star

BOISE STORE GETS A FACELIFT FRESH LOOK, FRESH EXPERIENCE

First impressions matter — especially in retail. Our Boise location recently completed a full exterior repaint, giving the building a new, modern look designed to enhance the customer experience and reflect the quality we’re known for. Franklin employee, Eric Howell, took this commitment to a whole new level by single-handedly painting the entire front of our store in just five days, doing an incredible job. The refreshed façade is more than just a cosmetic upgrade. It signals our ongoing commitment to maintaining a welcoming, professional environment — inside and out. A well-maintained store exterior not only attracts new customers but also builds confidence and loyalty with those who already trust us for their building needs. Inside the store, several additional improvements are making an impact. The retail team collaborated on a strategic remodel that expanded the retail floor space. A key interior wall was also removed and replaced with a glass-paneled roll-up door, creating an open view into the warehouse. Customers and team members alike have already noticed the difference. The sharp lines, vibrant color, and clean finish create a more inviting curb appeal that aligns with the high standards of service and product quality offered inside. It’s a visible reminder that we care about every detail — from the first look to the final delivery.

This update is part of our broader focus on continuous improvement across all locations. As we invest in our physical spaces, we’re also investing in better customer experiences, stronger brand identity, and long-term growth. Next time you visit the Boise store, take a moment to notice the improvements. It’s not just a new coat of paint; it’s a symbol of the care, dedication, and craftsmanship that make Franklin Building Supply a great place to work and do business with.

In the Spotlight

IN THE SPOTLIGHT KATHLEEN BRINGS HEART AND HUSTLE TO FBS

At Franklin Building Supply, one of the things we value most is the unique personalities and talents that make up our incredible team. Every person brings something different to the table, and that’s exactly how we like it. This month, we’re excited to introduce Kathleen Putman, a valuable member of our accounting team — and someone who proves that even behind-the-scenes roles can be full of energy, variety, and adventure. Kathleen has been with Franklin Building Supply for nearly eight years and works at our Jaguar location in Accounts Payable. If you’ve ever received an email about a company vehicle changing locations, that was probably Kathleen! Her role involves a lot more than just crunching numbers. She processes invoices for multiple FBS locations to ensure vendors are paid on time, handles all vehicle licensing and registration for our company

fleet, and plays a vital role in keeping our records and payments accurate and on track. On any given day, you’ll find Kathleen reviewing and coding invoices, verifying expenses, resolving issues with vendors, and occasionally making a run to the DMV. But what she enjoys most is the variety. Every day brings something new and often calls for a bit of creative problem-solving. When Kathleen isn’t making sure everything adds up in the office, she’s embracing adventure outdoors. She loves riding on the back of her husband’s motorcycle with their son, nephews, and friends. They’ve explored the Oregon Coast and are heading to Colorado this month! She also enjoys camping, biking on her new electric bike, and snowmobiling in the winter and plays an active role in her church. She even

participates in volunteer work to support a Christian missionary in Mongolia! Kathleen is motivated by her love for her family, and she’s grateful to be part of a workplace that understands the importance of putting loved ones first. We’re lucky to have her — and we know our team and customers are, too.
