However, we certainly want to start competing now and hope that, by Year 13, we will really understand all the processes.’’ The boys have two lessons a week together, and as they all live in the same suburb, get a chance to practice together in the holidays. “It’s great having Nolan to teach us. He critiques our work, directs the songs, gives us ideas and helps us plan what we want to do next. He helps, but he doesn’t take over, so we teach ourselves the original songs and he gives us a different perspective on what we have done. “I think the whole idea of having a rock band tutor is great, especially as I didn’t think about it being a possibility when I came to College. It just gives us all another creative outlet to do something we really enjoy. We have our freedom, but get more control when we have a music lesson. We get the stuff going, Nolan helps us refine it.’’
