College – Issue 32

THE QUADRANGLE Old Boys’ Race

It was three times a charm for Neil Allen (8444), this year’s winner of the Corfe Cup. Neil first won the cup in 2001, leaving it another 10 years before taking the title again in 2011, when his son Oliver (14519) was at school. He thought it only fair that he should win it one more time while his younger son, William, was at school. A number of Old Boys from various year groups entered, as well as

others who came to Sports Day as current parents. Dick Tripp (5627) treats the Old Boys’ Race as his annual warrant of fitness. This year, he was sole representative for the 70 Years On, being part of the group which had started at College in 1947. Dick, who lives in Governors Bay, won the race in 2007 and has regularly taken part in the event.

Young Old Boys (YOBs)

No, not a group of uncultured louts, but an acronym for our latest group – our Young Old Boys. The Association has been aware for some time that we are slow to welcome our younger members back to College, leaving the first official reunion until they are in their early thirties. The event is targeted at Old Boys who were at College in 2007.

The time span has been chosen to cover those who started and finished in 2007, and everyone else in between! The YOBs will be launched with drinks on Thursday 16 November, hoping to capture those home for Show Week. Tickets will be on sale closer to the time, but in the meantime, make sure your details are up-to-date. Parents, you can

help. If your son is part of this group, please ask if his details are current, especially his email. YOBs – start talking to your friends, and encourage them to make the effort to attend. Contact Justine – email ccoba@ccoba.com – if you have any questions.
