Albertville Ledger Leaders Achieve Academic Success By Brandon K. Pierce The Sports Ledger Each year The Sports Ledger honors participated in mission trips. Sadie is also a two-

sport student-athlete for the Aggies. She is the team caption for the Albertville Girls soccer team, and she has earned All-State honorable mention in the sport. Sadie has also earned All-County honors in both soccer and volleyball. Braxton is the starting tight end for the Aggies football program. He has a 4.26 academic GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society. Leadership is one of Braxton’s main qualities, as he is President of the Junior Class and FBLA President. Additionally, he is a Junior Board member for the Albertville Chamber of Commerce, and he participates in the Marshall County Youth Leadership program. She has also earned All-Region, All-Area, and All-County honors during her career. Vandergriff is also a standout off the volleyball court, as she has a 3.9 academic GPA. She is a National Honor Society member, a Junior Civitan Member, and FCA member. She is also on the FCA Leadership Team. Vandergriff also plays Club Volleyball. Guntersville High School did not submit a nomination for a male Ledger Leader recipient.

The 2025 Ledger Leaders from Albertville High School have excelled in all three categories, especially academically. Sadie Carroll and Braxton Hudgins are this year’s award recipients. Sadie has a 4.41 academic GPA and is in the top 10% of her class at Albertville. She is a member of the National Honor Society, FCA, and her church, where she has standout Mary George Vandergriff is one of this year's Ledger Leader award recipients. In 2024 she recorded numerous athletic honors. Vandergriff reached 1000 digs and 2500 assists by the end of the volleyball season, and she led Class 5A in assists. For her efforts, she was named to the 2024 AL.com All-State Team and she received Honorable mention on the All-State Super Team.

By Brandon K. Pierce The Sports Ledger From working with kids, to helping senior citizens, the 2025 Ledger Leaders at Cornerstone Christan Academy both have impressive resumes. Sara West and Owen Meadows are both 4.0 GPA multi-sport student athletes for the Eagles. Sara is a four-sport standout at Cornerstone Christian, where she participates in cheerleading, soccer, track and cross county. She is the cheerleader and soccer team captain. In 2024, she was the Cheer MVP and won Eagle Awards in both track and cross county. What’s more impressive is Sara works with younger

kids as a Pre-K teacher at Happy Home Baptist Church and as a Counselor at Ponderosa Bible Camp. Owen is a two-sport standout at Cornerstone Christian, participating in both baseball and track. In 2024 he helped his team win the state championship in both sports. Outside of school, he has spent time making brighter days for many area senior citizens. He has participated in making and delivering various baskets, as well as Valentine’s Day Bags, for Seniors. Additionally, he has helped make and deliver boxes for Operation Christmas Child. Owen is a member of Delmar Missionary Baptist Church.

During his athletic career he has earned the Hardwood Hustle award, been named defensive MVP and the Lions Team Capitan. Kalynn Green is a three sport standout for the Lady Lions. She plays basketball, soccer, and is a cheerleader.
