Exceptional FPHS Students Named 2025 Ledger Leaders
By Myra W. Pierce Managing Editor Fort Payne High School has nominated two exceptional student athletes for The Sports Ledger’s 2025 Ledger Leader awards. Cooper Jackson, boasting a 4.3 GPA, excels in football, baseball and in academics. His commitment to community service further enhances his profile. Cooper holds the highest GPA from the junior class on the Wildcat’s football team. He has earned the perfect attendance award for three years, as well as the Mr. Dependable award. He also received Honorable Mention in Class 6A Region 8 for his efforts on the gridiron. Yensi Flamenco are the 2025 Ledger Leader Award recipients for Collinsville High School. Yensi maintains a 3.8 GPA and is a soccer standout for the Panthers. He has been recognized as All-State, All-Area, and All-County in 2024. Yensi is also a Community Service Volunteer and a member of FBLA, FCCLA, Peer Helper, and Partner Network. He also participates in dual enrollment at Northeast Alabama Community College in Rainsville.
Outside of FPHS, Cooper actively volunteers for yard work and chores for neighbors, participates in fundraising for sports, mentors young athletes, and assists teachers in setting up classrooms. Carly Cash, with a 4.26 GPA, shines in softball, volleyball, and basketball. She was named softball All Area in 2023. Additionally, she has received numerous volleyball awards, including an award for over 500 digs. She is also active outside of FPHS. Carly is involved in Operation Christmas Child, is a member of Grace Presbyterian Church Youth Group, and has helped coach youth volleyball.

Collinsville Ledger Leaders are Dual Enrollment Students Myra W. Pierce Managing Editor Ava Simpson and
Ava Simpson excels in volleyball. She received All-Area honors in 2023 and 2024, as well as All- County honors in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Ava has a 3.8 GPA at Collinsville, and she is an active member of Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She volunteers at Vacation Bible School and she is a Church Youth Community volunteer. Additionally, Ava is a member of FCCLA, FBLA, Teens Together, and FCA. Like her junior classmate, she also participates in dual enrollment at Northeast Community College.

Southside Standouts Named Ledger Leaders By Brandon K. Pierce The Sports Ledger Community Service, dual enrollment and Magic Panthers Kickball, Special Olympics, Spina Bifida Bowl-a-thon,
and Adopt A Child for Christmas. She has also volunteered her time at her church, local fund-raising events, and helping with various community clean-up projects. Mallory also reads to special needs children. Drew is also involved in numerous school and community service projects. At Southside, he has a 3.89 GPA and is a member of the National Honors Society, Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy, Member of Key Club, Future Business Leaders of America and the Science Club. He is also a HOBY Youth Leadership Representative at Troy University and Member of Southside Baptist Church. Each of these groups have community service activities built into them such as; Kiwanis Pancake Day, Youth Volunteer for Vacation Bible School, Volunteer at Youth Football and Basketball Camps, Do Good December (where he helped make blankets to hand out to Hurricane victims), and Christmas Party volunteer, where he helped with Christmas gifts for younger students who may not have Christmas. Drew also finds time to compete in Varsity Basketball, Golf and Football. In basketball he earned All-County and All- Etowah County Tournament honors. He also earned numerous awards on the Golf Course.

Mallory Tucker and Drew Clark are both multi- sport student athletes, both are enrolled in dual enrollment college courses, and each have an extensive list of community service projects they have participated in. Mallory is a three- sport standout at Southside, where she competes in Soccer, Cross Country and Track. She was named the most tenacious soccer player in 2024 and has been an All-County Cross Country player for the past four seasons. Mallory has won various individual Cross County awards and in 2024 she set a school team record in the 4x800 Relay. She also helped Southside win various team championships, including back-to-back Etowah County Soccer titles in 2024 and 2025. In addition to athletics, Mallory is a member of the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, ASTRA Club, FBLA, and Kiwanis Education Youth. Myra W. Pierce Managing Editor Pisgah High School Ledger Leaders, Cape Duncan and Nevaeh Evans, both boast impressive 4.0 GPAs. Cape excels in football and basketball, earning titles such as All County and All Region in Football, County Defensive MVP, and Region Defensive MVP. His community
service includes fixing the playground at Flat Rock, participating in community cleanups, and assisting elderly neighbors. Nevaeh shines in cross country, achieving All State 7th Place and County Champion. She also competes in track. Outside of academics and sports, Nevaeh volunteers at Vacation Bible School at Pisgah Baptist Church.
