Gadsden City Ledger Leaders Recognized for Community Service, Athletics and Academics By Brandon K. Pierce The Sports Ledger Gadsden City High School's 2025 Ledger participated in the Etowah County Humane Society Food Drive, Community Thanksgiving, United

Leader award recipients both have strong community service backgrounds, as well as excellent academic records. Carson Ashley and Fiyin Oguntuyo both have 4.0 academic GPA's and both are members of the National Honor Society. Additionally, Carson is the Vice President of the Key Club and a member of the Beta Club. Carson plays football for the Titans and he is a member of the school's wrestling and soccer programs. In football, he is listed in the Top 10 based on GPA. He has also earned the All "A" Award and the "Count on Me" Award. Outside the walls of Gadsden City High School, Carson is involved in numerous projects. He has By Myra W. Pierce Managing Editor The Sports Ledger has selected the 2025 Ledger Leaders from Sand Rock High School. Both honorees are members of the Senior Beta Club. Grayson Lane, with a GPA of 98.23, has been chosen, along with junior classmate Macey Pruitt. Grayson plays football and baseball for the Wildcats. Grayson is active in various extracurricular activities. He serves as an FCA Student Leader, he is a member of FCCLA, SGA Chaplain, LEO Chaplain, Worship Band Member, and works as a cashier. He was also a 2024 All-County Athlete. By Brandon K. Pierce The Sports Ledger Five different sports at Marshall County Christian Academy (MCA) are highlighted this year, as both of the school's Ledger Leader award recipients are multi-sport standout student athletes. Brock Heaton plays Basketball, Football, and he participates in Cross Country, while junior classmate Megan Priest is a cheerleader and participates in Track. Brock is an All-State Wide Receiver, All-Star Basketball player, and he placed third in the state in Cross Country. He has also received the team caption award. He has participated in school and church clean up projects He served at an open house event and at Local Joes MCA fundraiser night. He has also maintained a 3.91 academic GPA.

Way, Kiwanis Pancake Day, Toloha Orphanage Missions, and he has been a Salvation Army Bell Ringer. Fiyin has also been active in community service projects and high school organizations. Like her junior classmate, she has been a Salvation Army Bell Ringer. She also participated in a book drive for African countries. At Gadsden City High School she is involved in the Key Club, NTHS, and Mu Alpha Theta. Additionally, she is a standout soccer player for the Titans. For the past three years she has been team captain and the offensive MVP. Fiyin has also earned Area honorable mention honors and received player of the week recognition.

Sand Rock Students Named Ledger Leaders

2025 Fyffe Ledger Leaders

By Brandon K. Pierce The Sports Ledger The 2025 Ledger Leaders from Fyffe High School are both three sport student-athletes and both excel academically. Dawson McCollum is on the Fyffe track team, cross country team, and he is a member of the Red Devils' basketball team. Ellison Stone plays volleyball, softball and basketball. Dawson qualified and competed in the 2023 and 2024 State Track Finals. He has also earned All-State, All-Regional, and All- County honors. Dawson sports a 4.25 GPA and he is a member of Youth Leadership DeKalb. He also participates in SGA, FCA, FFA, Skills USA, Pep Club, Beta Club, National Technical Honors Society, and Sigma Kappa Delta. He is a Class officer and is a 2025 Boys State Delegate. Outside of school, Dawson volunteers at his church and at Long Ranch for Boys. He is an active member of Antioch Baptist Church.

With a 4.37 GPA, Ellison is also one of the top students in the junior class at Fyffe. In 2022 she earned the most improved varsity volleyball award and in 2023 earned the most versatile volleyball award. She was also an All-Area volleyball standout in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Additionally, she has earned All-County and All- Area honors as a softball player. Like her classmate, Ellison is a Member of Youth Leadership DeKalb and numerous other clubs at Fyffe. She is a member of the FFA, Skills USA, Beta Club, National Technical Honors Society and HOSA. Ellison has also participated in Race to Embrace and recorded Volunteer hours for the Beta Club. Additionally, she has taken time to volunteer to read to elementary students at Fyffe. Ellison's future plans are to become a Pediatric Nurse.

Macey Pruitt, who boasts a GPA of 95.56, excels in both basketball and volleyball. She was named All-Area in Volleyball in 2024 and has received multiple accolades in basketball, including All-County 2025, All-Area

2025, and All-Area MVP 2025. Macey holds several leadership positions, including LEO Vice President, SGA Treasurer, FCCLA Treasurer, HOSA Treasurer, and she is an FCA Leader.

Megan has a 4.0 GPA and has also been involved with various community service projects. She has participated in Makers Child, Operation Christmas Child, and Beta Club Founders Day Week. Megan has also been in the Albertville Beta program princess ball, participated in the MCA paster appreciation chapel, was a Thanksgiving Lunch server, and she took part in Marshall County Christian's Open House,

Orientation, and Auction events. Her accomplishments as a cheerleader include: the Determination Award, Leadership Award, Superior Performance Award, All- Star and All-American Awards, and the 2024 Jump Off Award. Megan's Track honors include: 2023-24 Track MVP, Top Track Athlete, First Place in a 100m and 200m Dash, a second place finish in the 200m Dash, and third place finish in a 100m dash.
