It didn’ t look like a very good Christm

As y„u „ our Christmas story I’m picking out a few verses that have to do with the birth of Jesus. Here they are: “ And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flocks by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is bom this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a man- ger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heaven­ ly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men” (Luke 2:8-14). Boys and girls, what happened at Bethlehem that day so long ago had more effect on this old world for good than anything that has ever happened before or since. It would take more than all the books in the world to tell you about all the blessings for which this story has been responsible. But I re­ member one in particular that hap-
