. . SOMETHING TO EAT FOR CHRISTMAS” A veteran Hebrew Christian missionary who has served Christ nearly 50 years earnestly pleads for help on behalf o f her converts in Eastern Europe. "You may think that the economic situ ation has improved here,” she wrote, "but not for the people who have survived the gas chambers. They are still in dire need and broken in body. Please, dear brother, do send food parcels to these Hebrew Christians so they may have something to eat for Christmas.”

Biblical Spring of Gibeon Unearthed Archaeologists have uncovered the biblical pool of Gibeon and the spring of ancient Israel is flowing again after 25 centuries, the Uni versity of Pennsylvania Museum recently reported. The pool was discovered 32 feet down, in hard limestone. A team headed by James B. Pritchard, a re- search associate at the Museum and professor at the Church Divin ity School of the Pacific, Berkeley, Calif., made the find. The site is located eight miles north of Jerusalem. Restoration of the pool disclosed one of the ancient world’s remarkabl e engineering achievements, the Museum said. The discovery confirmed the bibli cal statement that the men of Gib- eon — now called el-Job were “ drawers of water.” The archaeolo- gists also uncovered a mass of evi- dence indicating that the ancient engineers, in attempting to reach the water table, dug a cylindrical pit 37 feet in diameter to a depth of 33 feet. Then they carved a spiral stairway against the face of the pit. At the 33-foot level a tun- nel was dug until water was found at 82 feet. The diggers found a water pot lying unbroken in the spring where it had been left by the last user more than 25 centuries ag0- Faubian Tactics “Like the Roman general whose name so closely resembles his own, Mr. Faubus (Governor of Arkan sas) may one day be commemo rated by a reference in a military lexicon: Faubian tactics, or the techniques of fighting a losing bat tle in such a way as to cause the greatest loss to all concerned”— The London Economist. Faith Healer Held A Washington “ faith healer” was arraigned recently in Brooklyn, N. Y. on charges of “ bilking his clients of $200,000.00 in 12 years.”

We plead with you, dear Christian friend, to help us to send these Hebrew Christians not costly gifts, but "something to eat for Christmas.” Another grateful missionary and relief worker has written: "Your letter and the many packages which followed it, especially the CARE food parcels, gave us no end o f joy and encouragement, since we were able to help so many in their terrible hunger and distress.” At this blessed Christmas season please help us relieve distress and give a little happiness to needy, hungry Hebrew Christians in Europe and in Israel. Remember especially the little children and the aged Hebrew Christians whom we support in Homes. Send your gift to: THE INTERNATIONAL HEBREW CHRISTIAN ALLIANCE Rev.
