T HE K I N G ’S B U S I N E S S salvation, go th e same road to th e same perdition. O thers instead of • “preaching the W ord” preach such p arts of it as appeal to th e ir sense of w hat is reasonable, and to th e ir idea of w hat God meant. Like th e idolators of old th ey fashion a God of th e ir own, and fall down and worship it. Those who are th u s led astray go w ith th e ir teachers to face th e w rath of an angry God, who “ hews to th e line.” This sin lies largely a t th e door of theological colleges, where prophetic and dispensational tru th is studiously avoided. How they can do th is is a marvel to any Bible stud en t who is no t “ college-bred;’’.for th e Word of God is plain on th e subject. The direction to the prophet Daniel was: “S hu t up th e words and seal th e -book (certain m atters of prophecy) even to th e tim e of th e end.” They cheerfully do this, b u t they w ilfully disobey God’s order in Rev. 22:10, “Seal no t th e say ings of th e prophecy of th is book, for th e tim e is a t h an d !” But th is is no t all. Have you no t read Rev. 1:3, “Blessed is he th a t read- eth, and they th a t h ear th e words of this prophecy” ? Again, why do they not shudder when th e y read Rev. 2 2 :1 9 , “ If any man shall take away from the words of th e book of th is prophecy, God shall tak e away his p a rt out of th e book of life and out of the Holy City, and the things which are w ritten in th is book” ? The m ajo rity of church-goers know nothing of God’s Word except w hat they h ear from th e ir m inister. If he refrain s from giving his people cer tain portions of, the Book, he is, to th a t extent, “ tak ing away” those portions, and he will, unless he repent, be dealt w ith accordingly. Ponder these passages and th e n ex plain, if you can, why these teachers and preachers persistently ignore God’s commands, except on th e th eo ry of Satanic delusion; Satan h ates th e Book of Revelation, for it tells of his doom.
871 These men are doing th e devil’s work instead of God’s. How dare men, whose duty it is to proclaim "a ll th e counsel of God,” pro claim only a p a rt of it? St. P au l’s challenge is also a command, when he says, speaking to th e elders of the church a t Ephesus: “ I tak e you to rec ord th is day, th a t I am pure from th e blood of all men, for I (lit.) sh rank not from declaring to you th e whole counsel of God.” When asked about th is th e ir excuse is th a t prophetic subjects are “ not in th e curriculum of th e ir Col le g e;” or, “There is no t tim e to study w h at th e Bible says about our Lord's r e tu r n ;” or, “There are so many differ en t views about it,” etc., etc. “They all w ith one consent begin to make excuse” -—and so God has no use for them. The coming of our Lord in hum ilia tion is, of course, dwelt upon. Why not His coming again in glory? We are told He will come (1 ) for His church, (2) w ith His angels and saints in power and g reat glory. Surely the glory of the Beloved Son is as dear to th e F a th e r’s h ea rt as th e aw ful scene on Calvary. He has to come again to fin ish His w ork; to bring in th e m illen nium ; to trium ph over sin, Satan and d eath ; to judge th e world in righteous ness; to judge th e saints for rew ards; to judge th e nations in respect of th e ir trea tm e n t of th e Jews, and, finally, to preside a t th e awful assize of th e Great W hite Throne, and deliver up the King dom to th e F ath er. These stupendous events, some near a t hand, seem of little in te rest to very many College Professors, teachers and preachers, bu t are of in terest to many in the pews, and would be to many more if only they were told about them . Many are th e complaints these days of increasing indifference to religion, growing apathy of congregations as to church attendance, etc. But,- as a lay-, man, I assert th a t if men and women were brought face to face w ith pictures
