The ad m inistration of American Zionists was disapproved and many resignations fol lowed, including Judge Ju lian Mack, Dr. Stephen Wise, N athan S trauss and others. Out of Touch' European Zionists have m aintained th a t American leaders were no t real Zionists and do-not understand th e de sires of th e Jewish masses. American leaders have wanted Zion h u t no Zion ism. They favored th e spending of money in P alestine bu t no Jewish na tionality. American democracy has had its effect and these leaders could not appreciate th e deep longings of the Jew ish masses for a national life and religion. The use of funds placed in th e hands of th e American branch was not satisfactory.
