gave us life. Now while th e people of th e city of A thens were considered the wisest people living a t th a t time, and were known all over th e world for th eir learning, yet they made beautiful sta t ues of th eir idol gods and built splendid temples and altars to them in different p arts of th e city. W ith all th e ir wis dom they had never heard of the tru e God. P aul told these people th a t God, Who made th e world, and made all things, did not live in temples- such as they had built, n either was He like th e idols of gold, •silver, and stone, which were made by men’s hands. These idols could no t give life to people or help them in any way, so Paul told the people not to worship these idols th a t could not not do them any good, but to rep en t of th e ir sins and come to wor ship Jesus, Who would save them and help them in th e ir life every day, and while we could not see Him w ith these eyes th a t He was near to- each one th a t belonged to Him. The Lord Jesus knew th a t even we who love Him would sometimes forget th a t He was near to us because we could not see Him, so He told us th is sweet tru th in th e Bible, and th a t verse is our memory verse for to-day. “He is not far from each one of us.” Boys and girls, do you th ink people ought to feel afraid when Jesus is, near? ' No, for He sees us every moment and knows ju st w hat we need. When we remember He is always near and sees us, we would not w ant to do anything th a t would not be pleasing to Him. If we do w hat P aul was always

doing, telling others about Jesus, we will no t have any tim e to get into mis- ' chief. L et us see how many we can tell about Jesus this coming week; Closing P rayer.— Dear Lord Jesus, we th ank Thee for sending some one to tell us about Thee, and help us to show our love for Thee by telling others the wonderful story of Jesus and His love. m m BLACKBOARD SKETCHES By E m Hansell PAUL IN ATHENS.
