BEGINNING ACRYLIC PAINTING

Learn how to work with acrylics, 'the most adaptable art material of the modern age!' Through discussion and demonstration, this class will give students the ability to learn to paint with acrylics. We will discuss why value is important, how to mix value and color and how to evaluate source material for painting. Specific modules are targeted to give students practical tips to approach and tackle difficult-to-paint subjects as well as learn how to handle various mediums. This course is specifically geared for beginners. Basic supplies will be provided. No class 2/14. (No oil-based mediums due to ventilation.) Bring your own materials, supplies, and projects each time, including any power strips or extension cords, water containers. No storage space. Create beautiful landscapes and learn new techniques for painting a variety of landscapes in a loose and organic style. Use the age-old technique of copying present-day works to learn the principles of art. Jess will demonstrate paint application, color theory, planning, and layering paint that will help students hone their painting skills.
