HANDBUILDING: EXPERIMENT WITH SURFACE DESIGN Perhaps you’re stuck, frustrated, and uninspired when it comes to decorating your pieces. You’ve had fun building them and now need to find a “WOW” method for the finishing touch. Focus on creating simple pressed plates to use as samples for multiple decorating techniques. Techniques will include sgraffito, stenciling, slip transfer, stamping, Mishima, applique, and sprig molds. These small plates can become your encyclopedia for color, pattern, and glazing experiments. Bring a notebook and pen to class. Previous handbuilding experience is helpful.
