RENAISSANCE PLAN FOR DOWNTOWNWAKE FOREST

WAKE FOREST COMMUNITY PLAN (2009) Recommended: • Prioritizing rehabilitation and restoration of housing stock throughout Wake Forest. • Partnering with the public on housing programs including code enforcement and public improvements.

HISTORIC PRESERVATION PLAN • Described the current state of historic preservation in Wake Forest and prescribed policies to guide the future of historic preservation. Identified the Ailey Young House and W.E.B. DuBois school site as historic resources.

PARKS, RECREATION, & CULTURAL RESOURCES MASTER PLAN • Recommended providing new amenities in, and connections to, Ailey Young Park.

Recommended:

• Adding commercial space and a grocery store near the Northeast Community. • Transforming the transition area between Downtown Wake Forest and the Northeast Community

COMPREHENSIVE TRANSPORTATION PLAN • Recommended developing new multi-use paths, greenways, and bike lanes through the Northeast Community to connect the neighborhood to surrounding areas.
