The Town should also promote improved maintenance of roadways including street cleaning, shrub maintenance along streets, etc. In the long term, the Town should update roadways to CTP recommended cross-sections and consider pursuing recommended roadway related actions for the following roadway connections:

Wake Forest Cemetery

STRATEGY 1. Improve roadways based on the recommendations outlined in the

Ailey Young Park

Comprehensive Transportation Plan.

Much of the Northeast Community was planned and demarcated in the late 19th and early 20th century—before the automobile age fully took hold. Consequently, like other older areas of Wake Forest, streets generally are well- connected and rarely end in dead ends or cul-de-sacs. In order to maintain this higher level of connectivity, it is important that resources are allocated to implement the proposed facilities outlined in the 2019 Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) . The Town should explore and create new streetscape guidelines to provide for new lighting, signage, wayfinding, historic interpretive panels, and other elements, while ensuring consistency with the CTP.
