C-R council okays ditch and drainage work
the concept design for a new watermain section extending throughout the munici- pality. The 2012 budget included $60,000 for engineering consulting services. The Genivar contract is $50,599, excluding HST. Cleaning out drainage ditches around the municipality will also occupy the public works department this summer. Last month council authorized the department to get tender quotes from local and regional con- tractors for ditch cleaning and approved an $80,000 allocation from the municipal re- serves for the job. Council approved a contract now with Lapointe Drainage Ltd. for ditch clearing along municipal roads at a cost of $175 an hour. Two culvert projects wind up the summer schedule of drainage jobs for the public works department. A past consultant report recommended replacing the box culvert on Old Highway 17 after a small sink hole developed along
the road shoulder over the culvert. The city will contract with HP Engineering for replacement of the box culvert at a cost of $14,460. The city will borrow to get a culvert re- placement project done along Montée Outaouais. The 2012 municipal budget in- cluded $240,000 for engineering fees for
the project. Final cost to do the actual re- placement will be just under $350,000 for the contractor. Council approved a bylaw authorizing administration to borrow the money and to sign a contract with Robert Excavating for the culvert replacement work. The contract is $10,814.41, not including the HST.

Clarence-Rockland | The last week of June saw Clarence-Rockland city council rush to get some summer drainage improve- ment projects on the go. During a special session June 25 five drainage, ditching and water service proj- ects received approval before council took its summer break over July. First approval was to transfer $25,000 that the city received for sale of an old excavator into the reserve fund for phase one of the Bourget Drainage Improvement Program. Council also approved a bylaw for a con- tract with Norman Excavating for phase one of the project. The contract cost is $93,475, not including the HST.
