Welcome to Outdoor Resort Palm Springs for the beginning of another wonderful winter season. We are the premier RV Resort, not only in Southern California but in all the country. Our amenities are second to none, with a social culture that only RV living can generate. Our winter weather is outstanding with low humidity and warm temperatures. Our management staff, led by General Manager, Ed Vitrano, was very busy this summer having completed over 200 projects: none larger or more important than the replacement of the pool deck at El Saguaro Clubhouse. Not only are the dangerous slip hazards gone, but the deck looks beautiful. Thank you everyone for a job well done! Our resort - sponsored entertainment and events are well underway led by our new Lifestyle Manager, Serena Reeder. Serena has put together an excellent staff team to assist her in providing an exciting and enjoyable season filled with music, shows, and seminars, just to name a few. She is exploring additional fun activities for our enjoyment, including bus trips. Our first scheduled trip is to the world - renowned Rose Parade in Pasadena on New Year's Day. If you have never seen this parade in person, you owe it to yourself to get a ticket before they sell out. It does not get any better than being picked up here at our Resort and having someone else do the driving for you there and back. Look for more bus trips in the near future. Our Tennis, Pickleball, Golf, and Cornhole groups are already enjoying the fun and excitement of these great sports in our Resort. Our Quilters, Bingo players, and Card players are meeting regularly, and our many pools are attracting both swimmers and sunbathers to gather and enjoy our warm water and sunshine. Our Resort has so much to offer! A special thank you to all our Volunteers who work together to make ORPS the happy place we have all come to love. I would like to welcome our 50 - plus new owners who have purchased lots here since the end of last season. Please make them feel at home here at our wonderful Resort, where friends quickly become family.

New Security Chief Increases Patrols A new security chief has been hired for our wonderful world of ORPS. He is Chief Felipe Reyes. He is 33 years old and, luckily for us, lives very nearby, for fast response as needed. He served in the Marines, and later as an armored car guard, and as a high end private eye, and in other security positions. Chief Reyes is excited to be working in what he calls a “ really beautiful place ” and is committed to keeping it safe. His first impressions include seeing a very organized and teamwork - oriented community. His crew will be taking a firm stance on speeding, theft and bad guys, but he will also be working to build relationships with the community and to make sure that people feel safe. Reyes also said that he wants to make sure that ORPS residents feel comfortable when they are interacting with his team. Our Resort has only two experienced guards returning, and seven new hires to train up. With full staffing, he will be able to do a lot more routine patrolling, which he believes is key. “ Prevention is always better than reacting after the fact, ” said Chief Reyes. The Chief will be working with his new hires on the importance of customer service, learning our rules and regs, and further comments that he will be holding our security staff to high standards.

Welcome back to the best RV Resort in the Coachella Valley and one of the best in the United States!

The A&A team has had very busy off - season processing permits so work could proceed during the summer and fall months. For the 2022 - 23 season, we processed close to 400 permits. I hope you will agree that the process changes made toward the end of last season have made it easier to work with the committee (apply the rules not enforce the rules) and provided for a faster turnaround of permits. As we enter the 2023 - 24 season it is important to remember a few basic rules/guidelines when it comes to making changes and improvements to your lot. Permits are required for all Lot improvements and repairs including, without limitation, the construction, installation, alteration, removal, or remodeling of any walls, privacy screens, trellis fences, landscaping, golf ball screens/netting, antennas, utility lines, structures, installations, and improvements of any kind. For repairs to lot lights, fifth wheel enclosures and stairs, painting of RVs, and for the removal of landscaping materials and hedges, a No Fee Permit will be issued. For all other improvements, you must submit a Permit Application and pay a $25 fee. NO WORK CAN START PRIOR TO THE A&A COMMITTEE APPROVAL OF YOUR PERMIT. So, if you are considering making some changes or improvements to your Lot and are uncertain about whether it requires a Permit, please contact Julia, our Compliance Officer, for assistance with your Permit application or to request a consultation with members of the A&A Committee. Several rule changes were approved during the off - season. Pet enclosures now require just a ten - foot setback from the front of the lot. Trellis fences can now be five or six feet tall and have an aggregate length of up to 48 feet (was 36) subject to the appropriate setbacks. As Owners, I encourage each and every one of us to become familiar with the governing documents which can be found on the ORPS.COM webpage. You can find them under the following tabs – MORE, then HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION, then GOVERNING DOCUMENTS. If you need assistance accessing the website, please contact the front office. The committee and I are looking forward to another great season at ORPS. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact us. Finally, thanks to everyone for your efforts to keep ORPS the beautiful Resort we all love and enjoy!

Please wave to the good folks in the Gate House, give them a thumbs up, and help them do a tough job.

Opening Day Ceremonial Tee - Off

Ed Vitrano called me up during the interview process and said “ Tanner, you have to come down and see this place for yourself. ” I just accepted a position at College of the Desert but was looking for something more during my time in Coachella Valley. “ Is this RV Resort really as great as he is describing? Should I make the visit? ” I thought to myself. At that point in my life, I thought I had seen all the great courses the Coachella Valley had to offer. I had spent several years coming here, even living in La Quinta back in 2009. But after seeing this course firsthand, I remembered that great golf courses come in all shapes and sizes. I was once an ignorant 20 - something year old vulture that wanted to play all the top courses in America, but now I feel more seasoned and understand that there is more to the world than $300 green fees. So, I am honored to be leading this golf course for you all during the 2023 - 24 season. I think you all know you have a little patch of paradise here and want to keep it that way as long as possible. So, relax and enjoy your course. Leave the other courses to the vultures. Birdies for everyone, Tanner Bown | Golf Coordinator

Left to right: Phil Sanstrum, Golf Committee Member; John Boudin, Board President; Tanner Bown, Golf Coordinator; Ed Vitrano, General Manager; Fredie Salazar; Vintage Supervisor

A full field of participants enjoyed the opening weekend/ Welcome Back golf tournament. The golf course was in great shape as the crew from vintage worked tirelessly over the summer to make it so. Steps were added to the 8th and 13th tee boxes and 8 tee boxes were leveled. Our new Golf Coordinator, Tanner Bown, and his staff have done an outstanding job ensuring that everyone can enjoy our beautiful course. I ’ d also like to thank those on the Golf Committee for their remarkable efforts in assisting Tanner and his staff. As the season progresses, please be mindful to repair your divots and pitch marks and abide by the course rules. The entire golf committee is focused on serving the entire ORPS community, but we cannot do it alone. If you have spare time please consider signing up for either the Marshall or adopt a green program. The signup sheets for both are at the starters shack. Looking forward, please remember to log your scores into the GMN app if you intend to play in tournaments, especially the club championship. I sincerely hope that everyone here at ORPS has a wonderful, enjoyable season.

Bob was also a good guy to go play with the 3T ’ s ladies, if they were in need. Bob and Sue loved to golf too. They played in many Tuesday scrambles. Bob was the best friend any of us could ask for. He will be missed. We are so fortunate to have great tennis courts to play on. There is a group of volunteers that spend a considerable amount of time keeping them maintained. They are called the Court Adopters: • Court A — Katie Lind/Roger Lawson • Court B — Chris and Brian Farrell • Court C — Larry Carletta • Court D — Mark Appel • Court E — Bud Krahn • Court F — Bill Grannary

Welcome! Welcome! Welcome! It ’ s so fabulous to see all our friends and neighbors again. Getting to spend time with them on the tennis court is extra fun. Fritters and Fun! A lot of fun was had at our first tennis event of the season. We had 40 players at all levels of tennis come out for a fun game of Triples where we played tennis with a twist. Playing with low compression balls and 3 players on each side of the court, there was a lot of laughing going on. Following Triples, players snacked on Fritters while we had our first tennis meeting, after which names were drawn and 12 players won $6 each. The next Fritters and Fun will be held on Saturday, December 2. A special thanks to Karen Forsberg, who is the Tennis Committee member responsible for this event each month. The November Mixer was held on the 18th. As the cutoff date for the Oracle is the 15th, I will report on that event next month. Due to the holidays, our next Mixer is not until January 20, and will be hosted by Kim and Bud Krahn. Our new Tennis Committee Chair — Robin Polson

Robin ’ s first visit to ORPS was in 2010. She and her husband Larry, had just retired, and some friends from Victoria who owned at ORPS recommended it for a winter getaway . They are residents of Sidney, BC, on Vancouver Island. She had not played tennis, but had

Robin has served on the Bingo, Tennis, and Big Star Night committees while at ORPS. She also enjoys playing golf, pickleball and taking her dog Rosie to the dog park. Thanks Robin, for your leadership on the Tennis Committee!

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2023 DO AS CHRIST DID

Review all that Jesus did in obedience to His Father: what we call Christmas. He emptied Himself of all, taking in the form of a bondservant. and was made into the likeness of men. He humbled Himself in His birth and became obedient even to the point of death. Because of His humbling Himself God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow, of those who are on earth or in Heaven. Every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. Things we can emulate just as Jesus did: Above all, love each other deeply, and self - controlled. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. We should use whatever gift we have received. When we speak we should do it as one speaking the very words of God. These things we do to love and allow God to be praised through Jesus Christ who gave His all for us! Looking forward to seeing you in Chapel each Sunday in La Palma from 8:50 to 10 am. We have several speakers and musicians who are new to us... FREE DONUTS are available each week … Upcoming Speakers: Dec 3 — ORPS Owner Janice Korthuis, singer/speaker, shares her near death experience. Dec 10 — Mark Williams, a favorite ORPS Chapel Speaker, this will be his second visit. Dec 17 — Johnny and Ruth Lerring, singers, saxophone player, and speakers. Dec 24 — Chaplain Jim Gwinn, a Christmas message from the New Testament. Dec 31 — Ed Elias, has been a Men ’ s Bible Study group leader for several years.

Welcome back to the 2023 - 2024 season! We have had a great turnout for our tournaments so far. This season we will be playing on Sunday's at 2:00 p.m. and Wednesday's at 3pm, and practice and free play of Friday's from 2:00 p.m.— 4:00 p.m. We have changed some things up this season. The round robins are now timed to help move things along so our day's are not so long. We are no longer separating social and competitive players. We will all be playing together during the round robins and the computer matches people for the tournament. Everyone seems to be enjoying it so far. Sunday's are free and Wednesday's are a $10 buy in with a cash pay out to the top 3 winners. A portion of the money goes back to the club to help with expenses. Remember to sign up a head of time on Scoreholio and bring your phones with you to the courts so you can get the updates of when you are up to play. Looking forward

to a great season! Carolyn Chanez

Healthy Aging Month is recognized as a time to celebrate life and the positive aspects of growing older. As we age, we become aware that our physical and mental health, as well as dietary and social needs, change over time. You can take charge of your well - being, by taking steps to age with a healthy body and a healthy mind. Get Moving Adults should aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate - intensity physical activity each week. Physical activity can be as easy as walking for ten to fifteen minutes for three to four days per week and increasing as you go. Maintaining regular physical activity can help maintain a healthy weight, and lower blood pressure, blood cholesterol, and blood sugar levels. Make your physical activity FUN and something you enjoy doing! Maintain a Healthy Diet Eat proper portion sizes. Overeating can lead to obesity and increase the risk of diabetes and heart disease. Eat a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables and have them make up half of your plate. Avoid excess processed foods. Stay hydrated. Adults should drink between 10 - 16 cups of water per day, at least!! Stay Socially Connected ….. Try something new by attending social outings and classes that interest you …. There are several happening at ORPS. Personal connections help to keep our minds sharp. Use technology such as Zoom or Facetime to stay in touch with friends and family. Balance your body and mind Keep a “ positive attitude ”. Keep your mind active by reading or doing puzzles. Keep your body active through stretches and yoga. Be proactive Receive regular checkups, physicals, dentist, optometrists, and medical tests when needed as many diseases can be prevented when caught early. Take vitamins and supplements to fill in any nutritional gaps, lower your stress levels, boost your energy, and rebuild your collagen stores. Reminders for the gym: • Please, wipe off your machines in the gym after each use! • If there is no one in the gym after your session, please turn the lights off. This goes for any place in the Resort. Help save on costs. Per the rules at the Resort, if you are an owner, but are renting out your lot, you are not allowed to use the facilities. There have been issues with almost all the cardio machines. These parts will be replaced with new parts. This will hopefully help with most of the issues.

Quilting and sewing is a way to express ourselves through our craft. People are excited to see and receive the things we create, even if they don ’ t always understand how much time and materials were poured into the making. One important thing is that our quilts will outlive us by generations. They are out there in the world, beautifully sharing our hearts and our art. We are grateful for each project we have created, and we look forward to creations yet to come. We would like to invite you to join us in the West Room Monday through Sunday, from 8AM to 5PM, if only for a ‘ look see ’. Each year we create beautiful quilts to be raffled off at the Ladies Luncheon held this year on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. Your support by purchasing raffle tickets helps us purchase the materials needed to make these quilts.
