Opening Day Ceremonial Tee - Off
Ed Vitrano called me up during the interview process and said “ Tanner, you have to come down and see this place for yourself. ” I just accepted a position at College of the Desert but was looking for something more during my time in Coachella Valley. “ Is this RV Resort really as great as he is describing? Should I make the visit? ” I thought to myself. At that point in my life, I thought I had seen all the great courses the Coachella Valley had to offer. I had spent several years coming here, even living in La Quinta back in 2009. But after seeing this course firsthand, I remembered that great golf courses come in all shapes and sizes. I was once an ignorant 20 - something year old vulture that wanted to play all the top courses in America, but now I feel more seasoned and understand that there is more to the world than $300 green fees. So, I am honored to be leading this golf course for you all during the 2023 - 24 season. I think you all know you have a little patch of paradise here and want to keep it that way as long as possible. So, relax and enjoy your course. Leave the other courses to the vultures. Birdies for everyone, Tanner Bown | Golf Coordinator

A full field of participants enjoyed the opening weekend/ Welcome Back golf tournament. The golf course was in great shape as the crew from vintage worked tirelessly over the summer to make it so. Steps were added to the 8th and 13th tee boxes and 8 tee boxes were leveled. Our new Golf Coordinator, Tanner Bown, and his staff have done an outstanding job ensuring that everyone can enjoy our beautiful course. I ’ d also like to thank those on the Golf Committee for their remarkable efforts in assisting Tanner and his staff. As the season progresses, please be mindful to repair your divots and pitch marks and abide by the course rules. The entire golf committee is focused on serving the entire ORPS community, but we cannot do it alone. If you have spare time please consider signing up for either the Marshall or adopt a green program. The signup sheets for both are at the starters shack. Looking forward, please remember to log your scores into the GMN app if you intend to play in tournaments, especially the club championship. I sincerely hope that everyone here at ORPS has a wonderful, enjoyable season.
