A MILESTONE MOMENT Reflecting on a Decade of Wolf Retirement Navigation
As we close the chapter of Thanksgiving, a season of gratitude, and begin planning for the holiday season, I look ahead in anticipation to Christmas and the upcoming festive events. Everywhere I look, I see the familiar colorful lights on homes and shrubbery, and I hear Christmas music in every store. From inside windows, I see Christmas trees casting their magical glow, and I find the spirit of the season embracing me. This year holds a unique significance for me as it marks the completion of a decade since I opened the doors to Wolf Retirement Navigation. It’s a milestone I am proud to have reached, one that causes me to reflect not only on the passing year but on the journey of the previous 10 years. I find myself reminiscing about the initial meetings with clients a decade ago and how those interactions compare to the present — the enduring similarities and the emerging new challenges. Retirements, I’ve come to realize, are fluid and always transformative. They include both happy moments to enjoy and challenges that demand resilience. It’s my responsibility to stand alongside my clients, providing support, guidance, and solutions to navigate these fluctuations. The past decade has witnessed the ebb and flow of life’s uncertainties, from economic shifts to the unprecedented impact of the pandemic, and my commitment remains unwavering. As I look forward to next year, I’m excited about revisions to our various platforms and venues, helping us to communicate with
you on popular topics that educate, inform, and update. New concepts, same core principles. The landscape of retirement planning is evolving, and we are gearing up to address the shifting needs of our clients in this new decade. With every situation affecting our clients, whether in a positive way or difficult way, it serves as a compelling reminder of the importance of offering accurate and accessible financial knowledge. In an era of information overload, where the internet and television frequently provide more confusion than clarity, I believe in the power of education. There is too much incomplete and incorrect information out there, and we must separate fact from fiction. This need is why we organize webinars and seminars, aiming to dispel myths, answer questions, and alleviate concerns. A common thread throughout the previous 10 years of helping folks plan for and enjoy a wonderful retirement is a stress-free lifestyle. The “gift of knowledge” is invaluable, and I am always ready to lend a helping hand. Our commitment remains steadfast — what is important to you is important to us. Together, we will impart knowledge, share real-life experiences, and forge lasting and meaningful partnerships. We are dedicated to helping you prepare for and achieve the retirement you desire and deserve! As the holiday season arrives, I extend the warmest of wishes from our family at Wolf Retirement Navigation to yours. May the message of Christmas and the spirit of the holidays fill your hearts with contentment and happiness. Remember, whether it’s unwrapping the “gift of knowledge” or sharing in the joys and challenges of life, we are here for you. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
We have received many positive comments on how interesting and informative our webinars have been. As we move into 2024, we are looking forward to your input for more topics that are important and relatable to you!

THINK OUTSIDE THE GIFT BOX
Start a New Tradition This Christmas
Christmas is built on tradition. Many families celebrate the holiday by waking up bright and early to open presents, attending church, having a delicious meal, and closing the day with “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” “Elf,” or another Christmas classic. Some families have been doing this for so long that they’re starting to look for new traditions to throw in the mix to spice up the season a little more. There are plenty of ways to change your holiday traditions without losing the meaning of the season! You could go caroling or try out a white elephant gift exchange with the entire family. If you’re looking for something unique, try one of the following activities this year. The Christmas Box One of the most exciting parts of Christmas is when everyone gathers to open gifts. The Christmas box gives you an opportunity to create a new tradition around gift-giving. Fill a medium- or large-size gift box with smaller items you like to give each
year. You can stuff it with Christmas pajamas, mugs, books, movies, and other small gifts you know your family or friends will love. Refill the box with different versions of these items every year. You can also do this with your friends in place of a Secret Santa gift exchange. Set a budget and draw names to
determine whom each person will give their box to. From there, you go to local garage sales, dollar stores, and thrift shops to fill the box with things the person will like. A Reminder of Past Christmases Do you buy a real tree every Christmas? Most of us bring our old trees out to the curb when the holiday passes. Before you do so, cut off the very bottom of the tree trunk. Write the date on it and include any extra information you want, such as a child’s or pet’s first Christmas. After a few years, you’ll have a collection of tree trunk rounds that help you reminisce about one of the happiest days of the year
and all the memories you made.
DEFEND AGAINST THREATS AND FRAUD Your Approach to Home and Personal Security
In a world that often feels unpredictable, it’s important to safeguard your home, personal information, and loved ones. At Wolf Retirement Navigation, we understand the gravity of this responsibility and recently hosted a webinar with Sheriff Michelle Cook from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office on the imperative need for home and personal protection, including fraud prevention. Home is more than just a physical space; it’s a sanctuary where families build memories, share laughter, and find solace. Ensuring its security is not only about locks and alarms; it should involve a holistic approach that encompasses both physical and digital aspects. During our recent webinar, Sheriff Michelle Cook shared invaluable insights. Her expertise shed light on the shocking reality of the numerous cases of fraud that
inundate police stations. Many individuals, unaware and unsuspecting, fall victim to various scams and schemes. Fraud, unfortunately, is an ever-evolving threat, and it’s not limited to any particular demographic. This is where the importance of remaining vigilant comes into play. While we work hard to protect your financial accounts, it’s equally important for individuals and families to be proactive in safeguarding their personal information. Sheriff Cook emphasized that education is our best defense. Awareness of common scams, such as phishing emails, identity theft, and financial fraud, empowers individuals to recognize red flags and take preventive measures. Especially online, personal information is often vulnerable. It’s important to
implement strong passwords, utilize two-factor authentication, and stay informed about the latest cyber threats. For families with older parents, the need for protection becomes even more critical. The elderly are more susceptible to scams, making education and communication vital. Encourage open discussions about potential risks and arm your loved ones with the knowledge needed to navigate the digital world safely. In the ever-changing landscape of fraud and security threats, our collaborative efforts, coupled with insights from experts like Sheriff Cook, serve as a powerful defense. Let’s continue working together to ensure our homes remain havens of safety and our personal information stays out of the hands of those seeking to exploit it.

We know ketchup as a delicious condiment, but its origin is likely different than you’d expect. Ketchup’s roots started in Asia, where it was called ke-tsiap (Xiamen), a sauce made from fermented fish sauce. It came to Europe in the 17th century but looked and tasted different from the ketchup we know today, as it included ingredients like mushrooms, walnuts, and oysters — no tomatoes. In the 1830s, an Ohio physician named Dr. John Cook Bennett began marketing a tomato-based concoction as a medicinal elixir. Dr. Bennett claimed his tomato extract had incredible healing properties and promoted it as a cure for many ailments, including diarrhea, indigestion, jaundice, and rheumatism. His tomato preparation was a precursor to modern ketchup. Over time, the medicinal claims surrounding tomato-based ketchup faded, but people continued to enjoy the taste. Now, you can’t walk into a restaurant without seeing a ketchup bottle on every table! FROM MIRACLE CURE TO CONDIMENT The Unbelievable History of Ketchup
