ACA Guidelines What You Should Know

Dr. Hoffman:

Welcome everybody to another ChiroSecure Facebook Live. I'm Doctor Stuart Hoffman, president of ChiroSecure, and back again with another version of a conversaEon that we've had ongoing based on the ACA X-ray guidelines. You know, this week there was a whole thing on Facebook about these guidelines as a response to our last show that we did. From our perspecEve, our role is to do the best we can at keeping you informed about this issue, simply by presenEng experts and opinions from both sides. That's what I even indicated on Facebook. Most of you that know me, know that I very rarely engage in Facebook, but at this parEcular point I felt a need to. It was very, very interesEng, and I'll share some of that as we go through this broadcast this morning. Whether you're from the ICA, or the ACA, a state board, or even presidents of the ChiropracEc schools, we've had past presidents on, talking about this but we invite you to come and present your point of view, and that's what I even indicated on Facebook. I'm open to this discussion, I want to be open to everyone's parEcipaEon because I think it is an important discussion in the ChiropracEc world. And so, here we go, another show to bring out some other points of view. We have a friend of mine, Dr. Joe Betz. And Joe, I've known him for many years, he's a member of the board for the ICA, he's also on the board of The FoundaEon For The Advancement of ChiropracEc Tenets and Sciences, known as FACTS. He's very involved in the Bio-Physics community. So he's on the board of the ChiropracEc Bio-Physics Non-profit organizaEon. And he's also on the board for The Idaho AssociaEon of ChiropracEc Physicians. I know that Joe has put out numerous papers in terms of research, he's been a principal invesEgator dealing with X-ray guidelines, he was part of the ICA's best pracEces guidelines. So, he's done a ton of work in this exact area, and last Eme we had some dark bars on, but here we're taking from the pracEEoner's perspecEve all about X-rays. And Joe's received numerous awards and we share in some of these, because, as you all know, I've received The Chiropractor of The Year Award when I was in Michigan but also from the InternaEonal Chiropractors AssociaEon, and Joe has goSen the Chiropractor of The Year Award in Idaho from the associaEon. He's also a fellow along with me, of the ICA. So Joe, I just want to tell you, I'm really proud to know you. I'm thankful that you are such a good supporter of ChiroSecure and you're open to being on a show like this with us. So, first welcome. Yeah, thank you Stuart. I'm glad to be here and really look forward to conEnuing this discussion that you're having. Yep, thanks. Joe from a science safety guideline as well as a research point of view, how do you think an organizaEon, because the ACA is a trade group, just like the ICA, it's a trade organizaEon. How can they come to the conclusion that X-rays should not be taken in the first six weeks aUer the onset of acute low back-pain baring some red flags, let's be fair that they put out there. Well, I think that when we look at these Choosing Wisely recommendaEons by the ACA, and I think there's a good disEncEon to make with guidelines that are out there and these Choosing Wisely recommendaEons. The Choosing Wisely recommendaEons is two and a half pages long, each one of their
