PERSON SPECIFICATION
Attainments/Qualifications Essential: • A degree or equivalent in building services or other related engineering subject. Desirable: • Membership of a relevant professional body, for example, Hold chartered status with relevant qualification such as MCIBSE or MIMechE Skills and Understanding Essential: • Knowledge and enthusiasm for low carbon engineering solutions and renewable energy issues. • Good working knowledge of Building Regulations, relevant statutory legislation and codes of practice, CDM regulations, JCT and other standard forms of contract and NES and other standard technical specifications. • Ability to communicate clearly with excellent oral, numeric and written communication skills. • The ability to develop new systems of work, policies and procedures and to be able to ensure that they are properly adopted and implemented by relevant parts of the University. • Proven ability to negotiate and secure effective and ambitious objectives to deliver change. • Significant project management experience including demonstrating the ability to plan and manage multiple tasks and projects. • Excellent computer skills with experience in use of Microsoft excel, project and access, design simulation modelling and CAD. • Ability to use own initiative to progress and achieve objectives.
Desirable: • In depth knowledge of Building Management Systems
Prior Experience Essential: • Significant experience in building services engineering. • Extensive experience delivering zero/low carbon projects. • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment and working effectively leading and participating as a member of multi- disciplinary teams. • Experience of managing and controlling budgets. Behavioural Characteristics Essential: • The ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. • Strong interpersonal skills including motivational, negotiating and networking. • A decision maker
