Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! We want to welcome you to the 42 Annual Women’s Conference. This year’s theme is “Holding on to Hope as Believers and Disciples.” Since we live in such a dynamic and uncertain world, it is more important than ever for us as Christians to keep our eyes focused on the Lord Jesus Christ, the steadfast foundation for an unwavering hope. nd This conference provides a unique opportunity to enhance your faith in the unshakeable hope that is in Him. It is a chance to interact with other sisters in Christ while learning, praying, and encouraging each other to serve Him with your entire being and letting His light shine intently in your daily lives. Psalm 119:105 reminds us, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Thus, the conference affords the privilege of walking closer to Him as you fellowship with your sisters. Remarkably, the Lord has allowed us to have this incredible gathering for 42 years. We are indebted to His boundless grace and mercy. Relax, enjoy, partake, and walk away renewed, reinvigorated and recommitted to serve the Lord with gladness. Remember, since He is our hope, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Greetings from First Lady, Lalita Thompson
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Whether this is your first time attending or you are a returning member or guest, you are deeply cherished and divinely appointed to be here. Our theme and scripture this year is a powerful reminder of the strength we have through our Savior. Life may bring challenges, uncertainties, and even heartaches, but through it all, we hold on to hope. It’s not because of our own strength, but because of the One who strengthens us. Over the next few days, I pray you’ll experience the presence of the Lord in a renewed and personal way. May every word spoken, every worship song sung, and every moment shared bring healing, encouragement, and a renewed sense of hope.

Greetings from Deaconess Board President, Marilyn Garner
Greetings to you all in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! On behalf of Pastor James P. Thompson, Jr., the Deaconess Board, and our church family, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 42nd Annual Women’s Conference —" Christian Women Doing It God’s Way.” We are grateful that you have chosen to gather with us in this safe place for a special time of worship, reflection, connection, and encouragement. The Theme this year is Holding on to Hope as Believers and Disciples in Christ — Our Hope is in Christ. Hope is more than a feeling — it is a confident assurance in the One who holds tomorrow. In a world filled with change, challenges, and uncertainty, this verse reminds us that our strength is not in ourselves — it is in Christ alone. As believers, we stand firm on the promise that through Him, we are able to confidently and boldly face every challenge in life by the power of God’s Word and His Holy Spirit. Our hope is alive because Christ is alive! Every promised benefit of our relationship with Christ is ours to enjoy: peace in the storm, joy in sorrow, strength in weakness, the assurance of eternal life, and much more. As we gather over these next few days, lean into and stand firm in that hope. Let us lift up one another, share our testimonies, and boldly declare that “no matter what comes, we will trust in the Lord and continue to do it God’s way.”You should expect a sacred time filled with powerful preaching, studying of God’s Word, praise and worship, and uplifting fellowship. We trust that you will share moments of encouragement, laughter, and renewal with your sisters. Calandra Eddington-Chavis is a dedicated women's health nurse and a women's health nurse practitioner with a passion for holistic health and wellness. As a resilient breast cancer survivor, she brings both professional expertise and personal experience to her mission of empowering women in their health journeys. Her future goals include establishing a holistic women's health practice that integrates health coaching. Calandra is currently attending Georgetown University's online MSN program and plans to graduate in December 2025. She has been a member of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Incorporated since 2018 and is a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Mansfield, Texas. She is married with 3 daughters. Reading, learning about herbs, making aromatherapy products, and going to the beach are a few of the hobbies that balance her busy life. Dr. Jefferson is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Christian Business Faculty Association. She was ordained to the ministry by Concord Church, serving full-time on staff as Connections Pastor for seven years. She passionately serves as a resource to others by mentoring student-athletes and young women, providing pro bono legal services to those in need, volunteering in her church, and enjoying time with her family in Cedar Hill, Texas. Conference Speakers Dr. Cicely S. Jefferson is Dean of the College of Business at Dallas Baptist University. She is a sterling example of a business professional who has earned recognition for her many achievements in the legal field while also demonstrating humble and bold leadership as a godly servant of Christ. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Public Affairs and Administration from the University of Oklahoma, Dr. Jefferson earned a Master of Business Administration and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Tech University. She then completed her doctoral degree in Philosophy of Leadership Studies at DBU.

Dr. Kimberly Parson is a Texas native. She was born and spent her early years in Texarkana, TX. After graduating as the Valedictorian of her high school class, she attended Xavier University of Louisiana where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. She was inducted into Beta Beta Beta, a Biological Honor Society, while attending Xavier, and developed a strong interest in studying dentistry after attending a pre-dental enrichment program there in 2004. In the fall of 2005, after graduating from Xavier, Dr. Parson attended Baylor College of Dentistry. Since graduating in 2009, she has practiced in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. God eventually blessed her with her heart’s desire in 2020 to open her own practice, Revive Family Dentistry in Grand Prairie, where she offers a compassionate and conservative approach to dentistry. Dr. Parson and her family are members of Concord Church in Dallas. When she is not working, she loves to spend quality time with her husband, Sam, and their two children, Walker and MacKenzie. She also loves to run outdoors, travel, and watch a great movie! Dr. Marcelle Petry is absolutely passionate about her life’s work. She knew from the time she was a small child that she wanted to be a doctor. Helping people and really having an important impact on the lives of others drove her passion to achieve — and achieve she has. Graduating with highest honors and a degree in biology and chemistry from Oral Roberts University, Dr. Petry had planned a future in medical school and surgery. While waiting for word from medical school admissions, she attended an open house at Parker Chiropractic College and found it was exactly the kind of care she aspired to practice. Learning about chiropractic care was an answer to prayer. She was offered a scholarship to Parker and never looked back. She went on to graduate from Parker Chiropractic College, Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Marcelle Petry has been in practice for 12 years. She and her husband, Eric, are the owners of Healthy Body Chiropractic. The office has been serving the Mansfield community and the surrounding areas for over 12 years. Dr. Petry is the chiropractor for all ages and walks of life. Her patients range from pregnant moms and babies to business owners and athletes.

Conference History
In 1983, a group of eager students of the Word – Ann Richardson, Shirley Gardner, and Martha Carter – began their quest to start a women’s teaching ministry. They attended Southern Bible Institute (SBI) in Dallas, TX under Mount Olive Baptist Church's support of the ministry of that school. During Martha’s 4th and final year, the female students were required to take a class on teaching, where the final assignment was to plan a teaching ministry. The title of her submission was "Doing it God's Way!" Taking the idea beyond the classroom, Ann was chosen to approach late Senior Pastor N. L. Robinson with their ministry idea. He authorized a presentation before the Mount Olive Bible Institute (MOBI) leadership, which included Art Hunter and Kenneth Parson. The ladies introduced the ministry title, but in one of the early planning meetings, Rita Parson suggested a name change to "Christian Women Doing it God's Way".
In 2018, Cecilia Smith was invited to help coordinate the conference, with Gale Davis as chair. After Gale’s health decline and subsequent death in 2022, Cecilia began serving as conference coordinator, with Marilyn as chair. 2023 marked the milestone 40th Annual Conference which was held in grand style at The Hilton Arlington, May 19-20, with the theme, “Drawing Nearer: God’s Way is Still the Way,” from Galatians 2:20 and John 14:6. The 2024 conference theme, “Moving Forward: We Have Work to Do” from Hebrews 12:1-2, focused on the author’s description of believers as that of being in a race. No one stands still in a race, rather the goal is to progress at a steady pace. Similarly, we learned to move forward in our Christian race as a continuum of spiritual growth and faith. Under the leadership of Pastor Thompson, the annual women’s conference continues to support the mission of Mount Olive by teaching and mentoring women within our church and community.
It stuck!!
Over the years, the Women's Seminar moved from under MOBI to Sunday School (Ann Richardson), and then to the Deaconess Board (Ruby Odom). Sister Odom later assigned Janice Magee to chair the seminar, with Martha Carter as co-chair. The Seminar eventually evolved into the Annual Women's Conference in 2016 under Marilyn Garner, current president of the Deaconess Board for the past 24 years.

Lord, I maintain my hope in You, and I hold on to the assurance that what I am praying for is already accomplished in the name of Jesus. Your Word promises, “...no good thing does He withhold from those that walk uprightly” (Psalm 84:11b). I wait upon You for Your definition of the “good thing” you will not withhold from me. As David prayed in Psalm 18:1, “I love you, Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” In Jesus’ name, amen. A Prayer of Hope

Conference Overview
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)
Holding on to Hope – That’s What We’re Doing. Life’s journey can be filled with challenges, but our hope is anchored in the unchanging promises of God, who strengthens us through every trial.
Who Are “We”? We are believers and disciples of Christ.
Where Do We Get this Hope? Our hope can only be found in Jesus Christ, the one who died, was buried, and rose again to save us from sin. The Identity of the Believer Spiritually speaking, “believer” refers to one who has faith in Jesus Christ as the one who died, was buried, and rose again to save man from sin. Faith is important to the identity of a believer. Hebrews 11:1 (NIV) gives this definition of faith: “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." Faith is trust. As a believer, our faith/trust is in Jesus Christ. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:8 (NIV) God’s gift is given to every believer and disciple, and received by faith. As a believer, we are commissioned to “…go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you...” Matthew 28:19-20a (NLT) Our Calling as Disciples A “disciple” is a follower, and as believers, we are disciples (followers) of Christ. We have been called to witness to others so that they too can become disciples and have true hope that can only be found in Christ.

The Battle for Our Hope Life is full of trials, tribulations, and uncertainties that can cause us to lose hope. We often find ourselves facing situations that cause us to wonder if this is as good as it will ever get. Our enemy, Satan, would love for us to believe that things will never get any better, and that it’s a waste of time to make any attempt to enjoy what God has provided. He is an expert at perverting good so that we become discouraged, disheartened, and hopeless.
As believers and disciples, we are called to hold on to hope.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 (NIV) Not by our power but by the power of God “…who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” Ephesians 3:20 (NIV) As we face the uncertainties of life, let us resist the world’s fleeting hope and let our hope be an unshakable expectation that God is at work even when we do not see any evidence or feel His presence. Jeremiah tells us that God has a plan and purpose for our lives which includes a hope for the future. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) The True Nature of Hope in Christ No matter how dire our circumstances may be, as believers and disciples of Christ, we must stand firm in the hope that is found only in Christ. He is our hope and this hope reflects … Certainty and Assurance: Unlike secular notions of hope, which often imply uncertainty, (fingers crossed, wishing on a star, or knocking on wood), hope in Christ is characterized by certainty. Hebrews 11:1 (NIV) defines faith as "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." This assurance is based on the reliability of God's promises and His unchanging nature. A Future: Hope in Christ is looking forward to the fulfillment of God's kingdom. Titus 2:13 speaks of the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. “While we wait for the blessed hope – the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.” Titus 2:13 (NIV) This future orientation provides believers with a perspective that transcends present circumstances.

A Source of Joy and Strength: Hope in Christ is a source of joy and strength for believers. Romans 15:13 (NIV) states, "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." This joy is not dependent on external conditions but is a fruit of the Spirit's work within. Motivation for Holiness: The hope of Christ's return and the promise of eternal life motivate believers to live holy and godly lives. 1 John 3:3 (NIV) declares, “All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure." This hope inspires a life of obedience and sanctification. We can strengthen our hope in Christ by … Praying often. God’s word says to “Pray without ceasing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV) When you don’t know what to pray - pray God’s Word.
Reminding ourselves who we are in Christ. We are a royal priesthood whom He delights in, children of God (His children), chosen, loved, forgiven, and have the hope of eternity.
Confiding in a friend. We don’t have to suffer alone. We can reach out to other sisters in Christ who can provide support in prayer, love, encouragement, motivation, and accountability. Embrace the Christian community of sisters, and let them walk beside you. Taking care of ourselves (Self-care). Take a walk. Looking at nature can be therapeutic. As we marvel at God’s creation, let’s thank Him. Let’s praise Him. The enemy can’t handle our praise, which frees us to experience the hope Christ provides.
Counting our blessings. This can be in the form of naming or writing them down, visually looking at all that God has done, and seeing how good God has been.
Assembling ourselves. Do not neglect fellowship with other believers. It can be hard to maintain the same intensity and level of fellowship when experiencing difficult situations; however, assembling ourselves positions us to be encouraged, prayed for, and loved on. Don’t miss out on the blessing of fellowship. Staying in the Word. The word of God should be alive and active in us. It is life. “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” Hebrews 4:12 (NLT)

Ask yourself, “Where do I really look for or place my hope?” A political party or government? A relationship or individual? Economic stability or financial security?
None of these were designed to be the ultimate source of our hope. As we may have experienced or anticipate experiencing turbulent world events, may we be reminded that placing our hope in these resources is not reliable.
“As believers and disciples, our hope is in Christ” – the one and only true source.
P.S. The Word of God provides hope, but it’s hard to receive that hope when your Bible is closed!
Keep your heart and mind open to His promises, and hold fast to this promise...

Discipling for the Future with Hope
Psalm 33:18-19 - Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love, that he may deliver their soul from death and keep them alive in famine. Psalm 33:20-22 - Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you. Jeremiah 29:11 - “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Romans 8:24-25 - For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. Exodus 20:12 - Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you. Ephesians 6:1-3 - Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” Matthew 28:18-20 - And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Holding on to Hope in Times of Uncertainty
Isaiah 40:29-31 - He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall. But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. 2 Corinthians 12:9 - But he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Romans 8:37 - No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
Ephesians 6:10 - Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.
Philippians 4:19 - And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Matthew 19:26 - But Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.
Psalm 18:32 - It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.

Responding with Hope to Disappointments/Conflicts
Romans 5:3-5 - Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
Romans 15:13 - May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
Proverbs 17:17 - A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
2 Corinthians 6:14 - Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?
Ephesians 4:2-3 - Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 - Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
John 15:13 - Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 - Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as, in fact, you are doing.
Ephesians 4:29 - Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
John 13:34 - A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
