A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 11

We’d like to welcome Year 11 back and wish them a Happy New Year. It is going to be a busy term and the reality of it being the last full term before Year 11 start their exams will focus everyone’s attention on making sure they are fully preparing themselves. The programme for the core mocks starting in March will be sent out to parents and students in the next few days and once again we will support students with their revision for these exams. We look forward to meeting with parents online during next Wednesday’s Parent Consultation Meeting to share advice for how to improve further as well as recognising the progress students have made over their GCSE courses. We would like to congratulate all those students who received subject and tutor awards at the end of term celebration assembly. Well done to 11SAS who topped the table for form epraise totals and to Evie Y in 11SAS who received the most epraise points as an individual. This week, 11ESU are leading the way with epraise points, having already collected 29 points. They are closely followed by 11PON who have collectively earnt 25 points this week. Keep up the brilliant work! Congratulations to Esri N in 11ESU for achieving a Distinction in her Grade 3 ABRSM performance exam. GCSE Art students spent the day visiting Tate Modern on Thursday to support their GCSE studies. Year 11 are responding to the word POWER for their GCSE exam and the trip gave them ample inspiration for idea development. Students spent their time sketching in the gallery and gathering information for their exam preparation. I am really looking forward to seeing the final pieces they create.

BOOK OF THE MONTH

Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Malibu Rising is a captivating rollercoaster of drama and emotion. Taylor Jenkins Reid successfully presents the Riva siblings’ lives against the atmosphere of ‘80s Malibu. The characters feel like friends you’ve known forever, their struggles and triumphs resonating with the teenage experience. The glamorous setting contrasts with the raw, relatable human stories, creating an intriguing narrative. Reid’s writing is touching, making it a page-turner that explores family dynamics, love, and the pursuit of identity. Malibu Rising is a must-read that blends nostalgia with timeless themes for any teenager.
