you are not sympathetic with that sort of teaching to be found in a modernistic sermon. Q. Riverside, Calif. — “I need help on Psalms 2 :b and also 37:13. Why would the Lord laugh at anyone’s problems?” A. God never laughs at man in the sense that men laugh at each other. The Second Psalm is one of the great prophecies in the Bible. It reveals all the nations in a world wide confederacy against Christ. They want to break off all re straints from God. It is the sheer absurdity of it all which causes the derision. The idolatries of man must be humorous to the Al mighty. You may be sure, how ever, that the Lord never laughs at our infirmities, our ignorance, or our iniquities. It is really the Old Testament way of saying God’s patience is completely ex hausted. When the Lord laughs at defiance, you may be sure that de struction is at hand. Q. Lakewood, Calif. — “What are some verses you would use to prove that Christ was sinless?” A. John 19:6 shows that even Pi late, a sinful man, saw the peer less perfection of the Saviour. He brews 4:15 is one of the clearest verses on the subject, “We have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet with out sin.” Q. Ventura, Calif. — “Why in the Revised Standard Version of the Bible, is Isaiah 7:1b changed to young woman instead of being left virgin as in the King James Ver sion? What is the correct transla tion from the Hebrew?” A. Many of the scholars who 23
names are not written from the foundation of the world for it was the Lamb who was slain “from the foundation of the world.” This is not to be confused with the record book which contains all the deeds of sinful unregenerate man. This will be that from which judgment will be meted at the Great White Thone judgment of all mankind at the resurrection of the wicked and their ultimate consignment to eter nal death and hell. Q. Los Angeles, Calif. — “When a husband is not a Christian, should the wife go ahead and go to church Sunday m o rn ing , evening, and Wednesday evening ? Also, should a Christian wife go with an un saved husband to a modernistic church ?” A. In the final analysis, our first responsibility must be to the Lord Jesus Christ. Our Lord also ex pects us to follow good common sense in connection w ith our household and family relation ships. The wife should go to church just as often as it is agree able to her husband. It is not nec essary for one to go every time the church doors are open. It should be within reason. God or dained the home before he or dained the church. You have cer tain responsibilities in the home. Be very patient with an unsaved husband. Treat his wishes respect fully. Be con sid e ra te of him. Whenever the opportunity is pre sented, and it seems that all is well, then you go to church for worship with other believers. The Lord will honor you. He under stands. Present to your husband, even though he may go to a mod ernistic church, what Christianity really means. This you do first of all by your own life (I Peter 3:1- 6). If you go in a sweet and loving manner, you can let him know that
