that he married his sister. Adam and Eve had other children follow ing Cain and Abel. Today sin has had such damaging influence upon the human race so that such a practice is unlawful. This was at the very start of the race, how ever, before sin had had its oppor tunity to run a full course. As Abel was murdered by Cain, apparent ly he did not marry. Q. Anaheim, Calif. — “Is there a Scripture that forbids bringing the Christmas tree into the house and decorating it? My neighbor says that there is, but she couldn’t find it and neither could I.” A. That’s because it’s not in the Bible. There are some who would make Jeremiah 10:2-4 mean this; however, in so doing, they are tak ing the verses completely out of context. This verse speaks of the heathen in their program of wor shipping gods of wood and stone. These were polytheistic and idola trous people. We have Christmas trees especially for the little ones. As Christians we heed to empha size the One who hung on heaven’s sacrificial tree. We certainly need to put Christ back into Christmas. Without being facetious, there’s no more in the Bible about Christ mas trees than there is in the Bible against hot cross buns for Easter. It is Christ’s birth which we need to commemorate. More important to us than the time of the year even is that the event took place in the fullness of time. The devil would like nothing better than that we should emphasize peripheral things. Don’t let him fool us. Make Christ central, and be sure to give Him the pre-eminence! Q. In the margin they did say virgin, but it should have been not in the margin but in the text prop er, which is the correct transla tion from the Hebrew. We have a translation of the Old Testa ment, the first in existence, pre pared by Jews. It is the Septua- gint, the Greek version of the Old Testament. They could have used a number of words in the Greek language for Isaiah 7:14 which mean young woman, but instead they used the one which can only be translated as virgin. Q. Healdsburg, Calif. — “What are the seals in Revelation? Who did people marry, such as Cain and Abel of Adam and Eve?" A. The sixth chapter of Revela tion gives us the demonstration of the seals which are mentioned in chapters four and five. The Lord Jesus Christ is the only One who is able, because of His sinlessness, to open the seals of the book which contains the judgment of God, dur ing the tribulation period, upon sinful man who has continually rejected the Saviour. As each chap ter unfolds with the breaking of another seal, so the judgment be comes progressively more severe. Chapter seven tells us of the rem nant which is saved out of believ ing Israel and sealed for eternity by the Holy Spirit. In Chapter eight we have the seventh seal broken which only reveals the sev en trumpet judgments of God. We cannot begin to conceive of the misery and agony in those days which shall befall the peoples of the earth. Truly, it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God! As to the second question con cerning Cain’s wife, we believe 24
