rich men to conquer their desires for material things and to give themselves wholly unto God in faith, thereby entering the king dom of Heaven. It is not a matter of asserting oneself to a place of leadership or prominence, bu t rather simply and completely trust ing the Lord, that represents true humility of the heart. God does not do things the way the world patterns activities. Be faithful where you are, though you may be last in the estimation of others, you may well be first when Christ comes to reward His own. Q. San Diego, Calif. — “Can the natural man, or the unsaved per son, know the spiritual things which a man of God knows? Is all Scripture therefore, for the man of God?” A. The Bible is always a divinely inspired and divinely revealed Book (I Cor. 1:18, 2:14). There are at least three types of individ uals who are referred to in Scrip ture. The natural man has never been born again. The carnal Chris tian is one who has been saved but he is living in the flesh. The spiritual Christian is living under the domination and control of the Holy Spirit. There are some por tions of Scripture for the natural man where he is called to repent. Such passages clearly reveal the way of salvation and eternal life. Q. Hermosa Beach, Calif. — “Who is the other disciple Jesus lo'>' i, spoken of in John 20:2 and u,.so in 21:7 and 20?” A. It is generally believed to be John, the beloved apostle. This is not the same as John the Baptist. Apparently from modesty a n d hesitancy to use his own name, or the first person pronoun, John always refers to himself in this rather indirect manner. 25
time populate another planet? Is th e re anything against s u c h views?” A. This is a very interesting sub ject about which to read. There is nothing in Scripture to indicate that flying saucers mentioned in the Bible. People may try to make something out of a passage by taking a verse or a phrase out of its context. We do not find any thing in the Bible that tells us people might populate ano th e r planet, or from another planet that created beings might visit us. Life on other planets could not be sustained as we know it here because of the physical conditions which exist. Venus has an atmos phere of such a nature that it is very improbable that life could exist there. Mars is out beyond the earth and is so cold out there that it does not appear that life could exist unless possibly some of the most elementary forms of life such as plant life that might exist there. Some astronomers be lieve that there might be some, but life as we know it could not exist there. So, there is nothing in Scripture that points to the fact of that idea that flying saucers come from beings or inhabitants from other planets or that people live on other planets. The Word of God deals with man, the human, the human race, and points out our need of redemption through the Lord Jesus Christ. Q. Spokane, Wash. — ‘‘Can you please explain the phrase, ‘The last shall be first and the first shall be last’?” A. This is found in all of the Synoptic Gospels (Matt. 19:30, Mark 10:31; and Luke 13:30). Our Lord spoke this in answer to Peter’s question. He had been talk ing to the rich young ruler. He pointed out how difficult it is for
