AMERICA’S GREATNESS We need to pray earnestly for those who lead the nation that they might seek the Lords wisdom. An immigrant arriving at Ellis Island and hoping for U.S. citizenship, made this perceptive comment, “The gate to America is so small, but once you get through it there is so much freedom inside!” May it ever be so! In actuality, freedom is not really a gift, but something to be earned and preserved by living responsibly. It is sad to see moral degeneracy, racial hatred, intolerance and lawlessness so rampant on every hand. In all of our mad pursuits for personal gratification, man has forgotten God. LASTING IMPRESSIONS It’s a good thing, on frequent occa sions, to take a spiritual inventory. Have you ever wondered what people might say of you after you have gone? What do you suppose will be inscribed on your cemetery marker? Here was one which appeared on the gravestone of a railroad man in Colorado: “Papa, did you wind your watch?” That’s an 26
