rooms are designed so that the bed will be placed with the left side closer to the wall? Some interior decorators do this because of traditions. This started with the ancient superstition that pa trons might get up on the wrong side of the bed. It was the common belief that the gods and forces of good lived unthin the right side of the body while forces of evil lived within the left side. So getting out of bed might make a difference for one’s day. If a person arose from the left side, he would there by give advantage to the forces of evil for that day and could expect nothing but misfortune and bad luck. Of course, that’s merely nonsensical superstition. Satan can’t be circumscribed to just one side of the body or the other. Our en tire physical beings as Christians, left as well as right, are to be the temples of the Holy Spirit. We’re not our own, for we have been purchased by a price, a cost beyond compare, namely the pre cious blood of ur Lord Jesus Christ. He will protect us from the attacks of the devil as we draw close to Him (James 4:7-8). TRUE BRILLIANCE Has it ever happened to you? Taking a garment from the closet, which you haven’t worn for sometime, you’ve been shocked to see how faded it’s become. Deterioration and decay are a part of this life we have to expect. Once an artist hit on an idea to make his colors seem more radiant than any craftsmen of the day. He achieved it by keeping a number of beautiful gems on his easel before him. There were the sparkling colors of the sapphires, emeralds, and rubies. He realized the danger of his paints becoming faded by usage and time. His tired eyes might not detect the diminishing luster which would come day by day. He kept his eyes “toned up” by constantly looking at the original never-fading colors of the jew els. His paintings were brilliant in every sense of the word. This is an age of moral degeneracy and spiritual com promise. a part of this affluent society. There is the ever-constant danger of toning down our spiritual perception as we behold so much of earthly things, things that quickly fade away. It’s so easy to be come comfortable in this world rather than conformable to our Lord Jesus Christ. May our eyes be kept upon Him steadily and the never-fading glory of His wonderful face! Look away to Jesus When sorrow presses sore, And when temptations gather thick, Keep looking all the more. ’Tis looking unto Jesus Turns darkness into light; Looking unto Jesus Makes it right, all right! YOU REALLY DIDN’T CARE I attended your church this morning. Oh, you wouldn’t remember me. I could be eleven or eight. But I was there. And I was hunting for something. I think I almost found it. Perhaps I would have, if you hadn’t been in such a hurry. The choir, even you in the congrega tion, sang hymns about a loving Lord. This seemed to make my heart beat faster. I felt a tight choking sensation in my throat as your pastor described the condition of a lost person. “Why, I’m lost. He’s talking about me,” I said to myself. “From the way he speaks, being saved must be the most important in all the world.” I looked about at you in the pews near me. You were listening. You seemed to think too that the pastor’s words were vital. “All these people are so concerned,” I thought. “They want me to be saved, too.” The man who sows seeds of kindness will enjoy a perpetual harvest.

Opportunity never comes . . . for in actuality it’s already here.

WORDS We can never underestimate the pow er of our words. Did you know that if you’re a fairly talkative person, you use about 30,000 words every day? Put 27
