What if someone within a student’s or teacher’s household tests positive? If someone in a student’s or teacher’s household tests positive, the student or teacher must quarantine for 14 days. Anyone else who the student or teacher has had contact with must self-monitor for symptoms but is not required to quarantine unless they test positive or become symptomatic. Can the classroom environ- ment really adhere to social distancing requirements? Proper distancing will be hard in some classrooms, so schools will program flexibly. Some classes might take place in areas like auditoriums, gyms, cafeterias, and even outside when possible. Teachers and Substitutes Where will the district find a substitute teacher who will work in a classroom of exposed, possibly infected students? If a student in a class tests positive for COVID-19, contact tracing will be used to decide whether other students are at a high risk for infection. Any individuals who are will be made to quarantine. The remaining

school busses, students will be required to wear masks while riding the bus, and each bus will be thoroughly cleaned after each run. Will the students who share a bus with a student who later tests positive have to quarantine? If a bus-riding student tests positive, the county will follow up with contact tracing. Any students who are found to be at risk of infection because of prolonged close contact with the infected student will be notified and advised on how they should proceed.

Chromebooks and Wi-Fi My child doesn’t have a Chromebook; when will he get one? Many students kept their Chromebooks over the summer. If your child did not, or has not yet been issued a Chromebook, it will be issued soon after the first official day of school. We don’t have internet at home or Wi-Fi available. What can we do? Mon County Schools is preparing to deploy busses outfitted with Wi-Fi transmitters to areas that are known to lack internet access. Students will be able to log on to the Wi-Fi during school hours to complete their work. Each school will also have limited numbers of personal, home-based hotspot equipment that it will issue to students who qualify for free or reduced lunch and show need.
