2025 Uniformity Catalog: Forged As One

KELVIN JONES Truckload

Kelvin Jones has been driving with our team since 2011, but his professional driving career began well before then. Between flatbed and truckload, he covered his share of ground over the years. “Wherever they put the load on me,” he says, “that’s where I went.” Kelvin’s decision to join Averitt came down to our professionalism and reputation. “I’d always see Averitt trucks on the road – they were clean, and the drivers were in uniform,” he recalls. Then he struck up a conversation with one of our drivers at a truck stop. “He talked really highly of Averitt, and hearing something like that will influence you. I told myself, ‘If I ever make a move, I’ll give Averitt a try.’ That’s what I ended up doing, and I’ve been here ever since.” He credits our unique culture for giving him a place to call home. “The communication is great,” he says. “I’ve had several fleet managers over the years, and every one of them has treated me well. They’re friendly, easy to talk to, and they’ll even throw in a joke here and there. It’s little things like that that make you feel welcome.” Kelvin also appreciates the reliability of our equipment and our maintenance team’s quick response when a situation arises. “If something happens on the road, they’ll tell you exactly who’s coming and how long it’ll take,” he says. “And if you need to stay somewhere overnight, leadership makes sure you’re in a comfortable spot where you can relax. That kind of support isn’t common in this industry.” Kelvin takes pride in wearing Averitt red, which he says represents more than just a uniform. “It makes you feel professional when you walk into a customer’s location. It shows you’re part of a team that takes care of its associates.” When he’s not on the road, Kelvin enjoys fishing, spending time with his nine grandchildren, and “sitting around talking with my buddy JP.” But he also has a less conventional way to relax: kickboxing. “I just love to watch it,” he says.
