First things first: deep respect and gratitude to each and every one of you who serve—or have served. You are the reason freedom feels possible. I see you, I appreciate you, and I salute you. Now, let me be clear—I’m not a soldier. I haven’t worn the uniform. But I have stood alongside those who do. I’ve traveled overseas in direct support of our troops—on multiple stops in Germany, Kuwait, and yes, even Iraq while we were in active combat. I’ve looked into the eyes of warriors who hadn’t slept in days, cracked jokes to lighten the air between sirens, and shared quiet meals in CHUs. I don’t say that to earn stripes I haven’t fought for, but to share this: I know—just a little—what your world feels like. And I know that amidst the mental, emotional, and physical grind of service, your health is often the first thing to be sacrificed.
