of the law to live. This young man, as every other person who has ever lived, lacked the ability to do all of the law. The one thing the rich young man lacked was true conversion; an experi­ ence of coming to God in his need and finding forgiveness of sin. In spite of how much you have been able to do to be good and to please God, have you ever come to the Lord knowing that there is one thing you lack? If you have never been truly converted, the message of truth is that Jesus Christ CHRISTIAN CONTENTMENT Oh, that we could “be still" and trust and know, That all our Father sends us here below Is best for us, since He has willed it so. And ever cease our doubting; Then should we nestle down in His sweet will, Our troubled spirit hear His "peace be still." And in our heart this sweet content­ ment feel, And victory be shouting. So many souls are wrecked upon the billows, Of discontent, while they among their fellows Have hanged their silent harps upon the willows, And sit and pine away; While those who fully know and are persuaded That He, who always has His people aided, Will help them when all other hopes have faded. Have you ever asked the risen Saviour to come into your heart and be your Redeemer, giv­ ing you that quality of life that you really need and cannot attain by self effort? ed in the knowledge of the law and the commandments of God. In the power of his own will he had attempt­ ed to keep all of these in his brief lifetime. Unashamedly, he looked at Christ and declared, “All these have I kept from my youth.” It was a re­ markable statement when you stop to think about it. He had never told a lie or cheated, and had always hon­ ored his father and mother. These are qualities we seldom see today. Yet, in spite of his ability to main­ tain the law, notice that there were one or two of the commandments that Christ did not mention. For instance the commandment, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God With all thy heart;” LET ME NOT BE ASHAMED

You may have liked him as a neighbor and would have observed him to be a very religious person but Christ challenges him, “One thing thou lackest.” That one thing was a turning of his mind from the things of the earth, trying to merit favor with God, and focusing his attention on things that are spiritual and eternal.
