NO TIME LEFT A student, on his final written exam ination, was given a half hour to write on the Holy Spirit and a half hour to write about the devil. His pen fairly flew while he wrote about the Spirity so freely, in fact, that he forgot to watch the time. Before he knew it, he had used up, not only the entire half hour, but rather the entire period. When the bell rang, he had to write this brief note to the professor at the bottom of the page, “/ am sorry not to have written about Satan. I guess I was so fu ll of the Spirit, I didn’t have time for the devil.” This is God’s remedy for the sinning soul. If you have given place to Satan in your life, if temptations, the pride of the eye and the lust of life have come in, then it means that the Holy Spirit’s first place has been taken away. The Bible rightly tells us, “Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fu lfill the lust of the flesh.” May it be said of us each day, “I was so fu ll of the Spirit, I didn’t have time for the devil.”
HOW TO GENERATE POWER One of the most interesting sights here in the West is the great Hoover Dam. Descending down through the m ighty structure, one can be escorted on a tour of the impressive installa tion. Those tremendous generators which produce the untold amount of electricity for various parts of the coun try are beyond description. How does it all work? The surge of water from Lake Mead, behind the dam, rushes through the turbines on through to the Colorado River continuing below. If one should shut off the outlet valve, no more power would be produced. It is not the presence of the water in the turbine that makes the electricity, but only when the water flows through it. So it is with the ministry of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Not until we allow His message to flow through us do our lives become the “dynamos” of God. The Holy Spirit is come upon you, and ye shall be witnesses unto me to the uttermost part of the earth.
