Biola Broadcaster - 1963-07

One Thing (continued) Unfortunately, that is all many Chris tians know. But it was never God’s purpose to bring you simply to the doorstep of Christianity knowing only one thing. It is a sad thing for God’s kingdom when His doorstep is clut tered up with babies who only know they are going to heaven but who are not of any use in proclaiming His message. Young men Christians have ad vanced from simply knowing their sins are forgiven and that they are going to heaven because they have read His Word. The portion suggests that they continue to read His Word and that His Word abides in them. No man reading, absorbing and storing the Word of God in his heart, will ever remain a baby Christian. No one can ever read the Word of God and remain the same thereafter. We discover these young men are able to overcome the wicked one because of the promises and the truth they have discovered in His Word. But even this is not adult hood in Christ. We must know more than that and go on further in spiritual maturity. Spiritual fathers are describ ed as those who have known Him that is from the beginning. Their experi ence goes beyond merely coming in contact with the power of God. It even goes beyond knowing the Word of God. They know Him experientially in their lives and are seeing Him working in their lives to reach others for Christ. The young man, about whom John writes, knew only one thing: his ey.es had been opened. He needed to prog ress in the truth, as so many others do

Mr. Strachen checks Scripture as Biola Radio Host A l Sanders looks on. today. Later he was asked by Jesus, “Dost thou believe on the Son of God? He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him? and Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. And he said, Lof-d, I believe. And he worshipped him” (John 9:35- 38). He had already believed in the power of God and he had believed that his eyes were opened. Now, however, he was believing as he had never done before. He was believing experientially in the person of the One who opened his eyes. Have you ever gone beyond just knowing one thing? Do you know Christ experientially? May God open your eyes that you may see Him and know Him in true reality and then enjoy spiritual maturity day by day through His perfect Word.
