Adult Prevention Services at UMADAOP Lima
U MADAOP Lima offers targeted programs aimed at breaking old habits and cultivating new, healthy ones. Through a range of initiatives tailored to address substance abuse, violence, and criminal behavior, UMADAOP Lima seeks to support individuals in their journey towards positive transformation and impactful change. One of the key programs offered by UMADAOP Lima is the Circle for Re-entry, a community-based initiative designed to facilitate the transition from incarceration to freedom for individuals reentering society. The program aims to reduce recidivism rates by providing education on violence, alcohol, tobacco, and substance abuse programming within prisons and jails. Reentry individuals participate in evidence-based curriculum such as Creating Lasting Family Connections and Violence, Alcohol, Tobacco, and other Drugs (VATOD) prevention education classes, supplemented by peer mentoring and coaching. These practices have been recognized as promising through the SAMHSA NREPP Network, with documented evaluation outcomes demonstrating their effectiveness over the years. Specifically targeting adult parole/probation offenders transitioning from prison to community supervision, the Circle for Re- entry program focuses on assisting individuals in developing alternatives to substance abuse, violence, and criminal behavior while enhancing their understanding of the impact of these behaviors on their sobriety and legal compliance. Operating in Allen and Hardin Counties, the program serves as a vital resource for minorities facing substance abuse and drug-related challenges, promoting rehabilitation and empowerment within the community.
