This project-based learning course explores areas of computer programming, web development, robotics and design. The course has an emphasis on computer programming and web development in preparation for progression to a computer science course at tertiary level. Assessment will be based around a portfolio that will include documentation of the design process that leads to the creation of a digital media outcome. Students will be expected to develop a range of skills in algorithmic expression and software tools. An essential part of this course is the planning and development of a computer programme which performs a specified task and is supported by electronic-based documentation. Candidates for this course are expected to have completed the Level 2 Digital Technologies course successfully. Students who wish to take Year 13 Digital Technologies without successfully completing the Level 2 course will find the work demanding and must seek prior approval from the HoD Design & Technology. Assessment A course of approximately 20 credits will be offered from a selection of the following standards. The standards offered will be selected based on the student’s strengths and interests. AS 91900 Conduct a critical inquiry to propose a digital technologies outcome. (6 credits – internal) AS 91901 Apply user experience methodologies to develop a design for a digital technologies outcome. (3 credits – internal) AS 91903 Use complex techniques to develop a digital media outcome. (4 credits – internal) AS 91907 Use complex processes to develop a digital technologies outcome. (6 credits – internal)
