This course is designed to introduce students to the study of the human mind and behaviour. Students will have the opportunity to study human nature through the exploration of scientific literature and its application to the real world. Students will develop an understanding as to how psychological research is applied and has changed over time, as well as conduct their own psychological investigation. Psychology is ideal for those students who are passionate about the humanities, the sciences and the space between. Students who seek a better understanding of themselves and those around them in an ever-changing world will find value in Psychology. Assessment Level 2 Psychology is comprised of all the available Psychology standards at Level 2, ensuring that students are immersed in a wide range of psychological approaches and experiences. These are all internal assessments, allowing for greater creativity and flexibility when it comes to assessment tasks. AS 91844 Examine different psychological approaches used to explain a behaviour. (6 credits – internal, literacy) AS 91845 Examine how a psychological debate has changed over time. (3 credits – internal, literacy) AS 91846 Conduct psychological research with guidance. (4 credits – internal, literacy) AS 91847 Examine how theory is used in fields of psychological practice. (5 credits – internal, literacy) AS 91848 Examine ethical issues in psychological practice. (3 credits – internal, literacy)

Filled with the scientific analysis of confronting implications and fascinating insights, Level 3 Psychology continues to question what it means to be human. After developing a broad understanding of the human mind and behaviour in Level 2, Level 3 Psychology begins to focus on depth and expertise. There is a substantial increase in the engagement with scientific literature, as well as the recognition of the wider societal impact that psychological research often carries with it. While Level 2 Psychology is recommended preparation for Level 3 Psychology, it is not mandatory; students may take the course with the recognition that extra background work may be required from time to time. Level 3 Psychology is a University Entrance approved subject. Assessment Level 3 Psychology allows students to engagewith all of the available Psychology standards at Level 3, ensuring that students are immersed in awide range of psychological approaches and experiences.This includes four internal assessments and one optional external assessment for a total of 22 credits. AS 91872 Analyse the interaction between psychological approaches. (6 credits - internal, literacy) AS 91873 Analyse the significance of a key piece of research and its impact on society. (3 credits - internal, literacy) AS 91874 Conduct independent psychological research with consultation. (6 credits - internal, literacy) AS 91875 Analyse how theories are applied within a field of psychological practice (4 credits - internal, literacy) AS 91876 [OPTIONAL] Analyse a significant issue in psychological practice. (3 credits - external, literacy)
