First, let’s all just stop com- plaining and start moving the political landscape toward righteousness — and it will take some doing. A good way to start the ball rolling could be initiating a Natural Family movement in your local church/city or township. Start local and start now; maybe you could help your child start a Natural Family Club in their high school or how about starting your own City or neighborhood Natural Family X or Facebook account? Our Mother’s day to Father’s day celebration will soon pass but that does not stop the need for healthy, normal fami-

I was recently invited by a local city resident to meet with the Mayor of one of
the fastest growing cities in the Midwest. At the onset of this 30 minute interview, the Mayor and her assistant made it quite clear that they were both Christians and appreciated our family con- cept. They were given our tri- fold information with a short account of why we were asking for the city to officially proclaim our Natural Family Month. A Proclamation that would honor members of the community that practice and/or agree with our Natural Family vision.
Family Pride month.” She asserted. At this point the meeting quickly came to a close with the Mayor promising to look into that possi- bility as she arose and hurriedly motioned her guests out the door.
lies. Let’s start by giving children what they need and that is their mother and father in a lifelong, committed relationship and a team who together are leading the way to a safer and stronger family. Amen?
As the concept of the Natural Family mis- sion was gone over with the Mayor and her as- sistant, their heads nodded in approval. Then again, why would they not agree, being Chris- tians, right? Were there any questions? No. They seemed to pretty much understand the concept, given their Christian understanding that natural and biblical practices seem to be pretty much synonymous. Besides, the city already celebrates Black History month, in addition to many other proclamations to in- clude a month-long celebration of public ser- vants and of course, Homosexual Pride month. Yeah that’s right . . . there is a BUT here, of course. After bringing up a frivolous concern that was quickly dismissed by our Natural- Family team members, then came the “boom” from the Mayor. “Would not celebrating a se- lect group of individuals make others feel bad / inadequate and left out?” Wait, what? Ev- idently the Mayor was concerned that point- ing out a best practice, a proven and natural healthy practice “would be pointing the finger at others (judge not) and we just don’t do that here in our (inclusive) city.” Now keep in mind this city already cele- brates Gay Pride. Evidently Gay PRIDE is a positive, inclusive and non-critical movement and they’re only asking to celebrate who they are. Ok, so in response to the Mayor’s con- cerns, a brilliant point was brought up by our Natural Family resident in relating to the City’s celebrating Gay Pride and the Mayor’s concerns. “Since our city already approves of a Gay Pride Month . . .” (Wait for it) . . . “Please con- sider our request to now be for a Natural
So what do you all think? Do we, as Christians, dare use the term “pride” and “Natural family” aka “Bib- lical family” in the same sentence? Personally, I kind of like the power of that, but it also might bring up some concerns in certain Christian corners. What am I missing if, anything, and what would you have done? It is quite noteworthy that during our conversation with the Christian Mayor she also made mention of some imperfect and personal family situa- tions that were adding pressure on her in making a decision. Her assis- tant, we were told, was a lesbian par- ent and well ... Did I mention that the city council that the Mayor presides over is led by a lesbian council presi- dent and yep – a parent as well? Folks, the Mayor of this city and other public servants in America are between a rock and a hard place. I’m not excusing the Mayor or her coun- terparts, but I am not putting all the blame on them either. To do the right thing, which she knew to do, she would then be looking at a political and family chaos around her. This is not a situation the Mayor created by herself. It exists more so by the US in USA — “those who know to do good but don’t.” So let’s give our public servants a lending hand.
