f we only had a piano!” How often the girls of the Euodia Club had wished for some musical in strument for their chorus singing! Louise had been having many happy times in this Bible study club, whose name means “ fragrance” and whose members seek to “be fragrant for Christ.” But Louise and the other girls often spoke of how much better it would be if they could be sure o f the tunes of the songs which they loved to sing. One day the teacher, realizing the need, said to the girls, “Let us ask our heavenly Father for a piano. He is concerned about all our needs, and is able to give us a piano if it will be for His glory.” Then Louise and her friends began to pray for a piano. Weeks passed and the answer did not come, but the girls, en couraged by a faithful teacher, kept on praying. After one of the club meetings in which special prayer had been offered for this need, Louise hurried home as usual. As she passed through the front door, she glanced at her piano. It had been standing there for months and years, but somehow it looked different today. She realized in a new way that it belonged to her, and it seemed to say, “Louise, why don’t you give me to your girls’ club? You don’t use me much, and there are many girls there who would enjoy me.” “Why, I never thought of giving my piano,” ,said Louise, thinking aloud. “ But if the Lord wants it, I’m willing to give it —only I must ask Daddy first.” When her father came home that night, Louise told him of the need for a piano in the club, and of her desire to give hers. Her father thought a moment, then said, “ The piano is yours, Louise. Your mother gave it to you, and if you wish to give it to the club, you may.” Louise could hardly wait until the next meeting. When she told o f her decision to give her own piano, the hearts o f the teacher and girls were all deeply touched. They knew that Louise was giving, like Mary of Bethany, a real love gift to her Lord. The piano is now in the home where the Euodia Club meets, and is helping many girls to become fragrant for the Lord Jesus Christ.—M. S. H. Bible Children Do you know the following Bible children ? 1. “ He telleth the number of the stars” (Psa. 147:4). “Are not two sparrows sold for a far thing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father” (Matt. 10:29). When I go out to walk at night And see the stars aglow, I like to think God made them all And watches where they go. But then, I think, the Bible says He shields the sparrows' brood. He makes them light upon the ground And gives them daily food. , So I am not afraid at all Since these two things I've seen, For stars and sparrows know G od's care, And I come in between! — Helen Honeyman Edwards.
