Waite said track and trace is definitely emerging. “There are a lot of people who want to know where their product came from.” Chrikov added that it is a trend in CBD prod- ucts as well, especially for edibles. Where To Start How does a carton converter find customers in this market? Waite recommended starting with the brands rather than the dispensaries or growers. He cautioned that many companies are just starting out. “Packaging is typi- cally less of their focus. Unless you’re bringing something to them that solves a problem, they are probably going to care less about you,” he said. An attractive price or quicker turn times probably aren’t going to get their attention, he added. “If you recognize an issue that they’re having and are able to give them some sort of added value to resolve that, that’s a great start.” Waite recommended researching brands state by state. “If they’re in five stores, maybe they’re too small to go after with a lot of effort. But if they’re in 25 or 50 stores, maybe that’s not a bad target. If they’re in 300 stores, may- be they have a whole different way that they need to be approached.” He also suggested following brands on so- cial media. “Instagram would be a way to discover brands. Another tip is to connect with laboratories that do potency testing.”
