5 tips for using AI in hiring 1. Review any material generated or refined with AI. Make sure the documents describe the job position or applicant’s skills accurately, without errors like hallucinations or discriminatory language. 2. Assess whether AI-generated and refined materials are resulting in materials like job descriptions and resumes that “match up” to the work that the position involves. For example, AI software may not have enough knowledge to help a job seeker explain how they learned geography and demographics specific to the North Bay. 3. Employers and staffing companies should track the development and passage of state and federal legislation relating to the use of AI in hiring. This will help ensure they are in compliance as to their website, review of application materials, interviewing and screening procedures, and responses to candidates. 4. Employers and job seekers should consider talking to a staffing agency, small business development center staff member, or job counselor with experience in using AI-powered software programs for hiring. This will educate the employer or job seeker on best practices. It will also let them know what software programs offer the best results. 5. Job seekers should ask employers what role AI plays in their hiring practices. This will inform them as to whether AI-powered selection and screening is prevalent in their field. Employers in certain industries may not be using AI software as often as others.
