MANAGERS’ RETREAT The fifth annual managers’ retreat was held on March 19th. It provided an opportunity to catch up and hear about an initiative or challenge each participant was currently addressing. Suffice to say, there was more work to go around than anyone could manage! John Elias, Public Works Director, discussed a myriad of topics, including the upcoming evaluation overhaul, the mental health initiative with an emphasis on storm recovery support, and joint meetings with both Punta Gorda and North Port, among others. This year’s activity was a Spring Training game, Rays vs. Pirates, with a final score of 5–2. The weather was perfect, and for many attendees, it was their first time attending a game. Thanks to shuttle bus driver Joey Jackson, Right-of-Way Supervisor, for navigating through the snowbird and spring training traffic. The event was enjoyable, and anticipation is already building for next year.
