SITE VISIT
Over the past year, the department diligently prepared for reaccreditation following the initial accreditation by the American Public Works Association (APWA) in 2021. Kenna Hubai, Business Services Manager, also served as the accreditation manager, overseeing the entire reaccreditation process. She ensured that each division adhered to its designated practices while managing her own responsibilities. Since the initial accreditation occurred during the pandemic and was conducted virtually, this reaccreditation aimed to provide a comprehensive and engaging site visit with evaluators, including Paul Woodard from Janesville, Wisconsin; Dawn Ettleman from Columbia, Missouri; and Nicole Shoemaker from APWA Headquarters. Upon their arrival, the leadership team guided the evaluators on a tour of the landfill and Indian Spring Cemetery. Staff members engaged with the evaluators to discuss their respective chapters and address any inquiries. The department achieved 100% compliance and contributed two model practices to the APWA Library: TSM’s graffiti removal procedure and the Autoprogression Program. Notably, this was the first instance in which the accreditation manager from APWA witnessed 100% compliance on Chapter 2, which encompasses 36 sub-practices related to Human Resources.
