EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE AWARDS EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE AWARDS

Emily Lewis, Deputy County Administrator, presented a Exceptional Service Award (ESA) to Mark Ulchinsky & Daryl Thompson, Maintenance Workers; Christian Newsome & John Edwards, Equipment Operator I’s; Mike Pritchett, Concrete Specialist; This recognition was in response to their exemplary efforts in removing sand from Sand Dollar Lane. A citizen expressed her gratitude, commending the team for their outstanding performance.

Emily Lewis, Deputy County Administrator, awarded Jessica Reynolds, Administrative Services Coordinator, an ESA for her key role in organizing the Junior Achievement (JA) Inspire event. Jess coordinated logistics, created trivia questions, and a photo reel for display. Alongside her contributions to JA, Jess has completed the Leadership Development Program, and is currently participating in Leadership Charlotte, as well as volunteering with Big Brothers & Big Sisters, all while maintaining her daily responsibilities.

Emily Lewis, Deputy County Administrator, presented an ESA to David Whidden and Jacob Gibbs, Engineering Inspectors. A local resident recently faced a major sewage backup and was left feeling frustrated and overwhelmed, but thanks to David Whidden and Jacob Gibbs, the homeowner’s situation took a positive turn! Using their expertise and professional contacts, they connected the resident to the right people for a solution. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to excellent service made a lasting impact

Emily Lewis, Deputy County Administrator, awarded an ESA to Jack Regan, Locate Technician. While responding to a locate request, Jack discovered that the contractor working on a drainage structure was about to encounter a direct conflict with FDOT and IT fiber. Rather than just marking the location and walking away, he took the initiative to reach out his supervisor and subsequently informed the contractor about the potential issue. Thanks to his prompt thinking and proactive attitude, he successfully averted what could have been a disastrous outage.

Emily Lewis, Deputy County Administrator, awarded an ESA to several individuals: Michael Pritchett, Concrete Specialist; Darryl Thompson and Alex Cohn, Maintenance Workers; Doug Walker, Equipment Operator III; Brandon Tarman, Equipment Operator I; and Tom Elson, Field Supervisor. A citizen alerted a Commissioner about unsafe sidewalk conditions for a 5k race in February 2025. In response, the Administration asked Public Works to assist Utilities to address hazardous areas. They successfully poured two concrete segments, ensuring safety for the event.

Emily Lewis, Deputy County Administrator, presented an ESA to Jeff Litherland, who serves as a Projects Engineer within the Engineering Division. Jeff has played a pivotal role in assisting the outside attorney during our arbitration process with FEMA regarding the Rotonda Bridge, which sustained damage during Hurricane Ian. He has contributed valuable technical information, coordinated efforts with our consultant, and remained accessible to address any inquiries from stakeholders.
